I have found this to be very helpful in many aspects of life. If you expect less and get more you'll be pleasantly surprised rather than the opposite which can REALLY stress you out. |

Double CD's tend to have a lot of filler tracks.
I'm in the minority here, but i'll be happy with a single CD. |

Yeah, I know, you're right. And I thought I had learned not to get my hopes up w/this band, lol. I guess it's just that I kept reading it and reading it over and over again...and I started actually believing it. lol. Fool me twice, shame on me. ~Angela~ ![]() |

It may seem like a pretty cynical approach, and yet, I'd venture to say I'm far more optimistic than just about anyone you'd meet. If you don't expect too much from people, or walk around life feeling as if you're owed something, then you're gonna be a much happier person, I'd say. I feel lucky that Fleetwood Mac is even working together, so I'm not about to place too many stipulations or conditions on whether or not I'm going to enjoy this album. Yes, I'll admit that the fan in me will be sorely disappointed if this has been widdled down to a mere 16 tracks... and yet, SIXTEEN NEW SONGS is still far more than I ever expected to have from Fleetwood Mac ever again, so I'm still ahead of the game. Also, I have a feeling we're going to hear the remaining tracks one way or another... even if they aren't on the album. Johnny Stew

Oh, don't get me wrong, lol. Truly, I'd be happy if they were only putting out ONE song on some obscure soundtrack somewhere, LOL. It's just that it sort of ticks me off that they~mainly Mick~say one thing, over and over again, but then the opposite happens. Just don't say anything, if you aren't for sure.

Hell, Mick even said that the whole reason the release was delayed until Spring, was that they decided to put it out as a double-album, and needed the extra time to mix all of the tracks. I suspect the final decision to release a single disc was a corporate one, but perhaps Fleetwood Mac still has something up their collective sleeves, in regards to the estimated 7 tracks that remain. If they were pleased enough with those songs, to want to include them in the first place, then they're not going to just let them go quietly into the good night. At least I should hope not. I'd rather have quality versus quantity.

(I really enjoy your insight, Johnny Stew - thanks for posting such thought provoking *and peaceful* messages) I also believe that there is a good chance that the additional 7 songs will make it into our disc players.... it seems like the real "fad" right now is to put out a special edition cd, shortly after the initial album's release - with additional tracks, remixes, DVD supplemental material, etc. all. Celine Dion, Josh Groban, The Dixie Chicks, Alanis Morisette, David Bowie, etc. - they all come to mind as doing this with their most recent releases. The Mac cd may be followed with a *Special Edition* cd(s) or cd/DVD package... with the 7 songs added to the original album, or by themselves with an additional DVD (lots of options available!)--- and there is also the *FM Documentary* that was previewed on the VBOFM; we have heard that it is to be televised and released on DVD ~ maybe it will be incorporated into a Special Edition? I am annoyed by the rumours as of late, and do really wish that Mick's camp, or fleetwoodmac.com would UPDATE with some substantial and OFFICIAL info --- like *the NAME of the album*, for instance! We could refer to it by name, instead of the "double-single-'GOS'-new-studio-album-Album??!!" ~Happy to hear, and experience, the excitement with all of you though. ![]() Josh the jester

Hello riff_shuffler, welcome to the Ledge. I was just wondering where you got that picture from. Did you make it? Because I really like it as even the cover to the single (if it's released for sales, and if Thrown Down IS the first single).

Thank you riff-shuffler/Josh... I appreciate the compliments.
![]() I recognize your name from Mick's message board... nice to see you hanging out here too. Make yourself at home, and have fun! ![]() (Oh! Almost forgot to say that I like your idea of a "special edition" release.) Johnny Stew

Of course we all want to hear the left out songs...but if you surf the net and search for downloads or check the sites that regularly post downloads, don't you think it's a matter of time before we will have them anyways?
SO, in trying to keep a positive attitude, I'm hoping that a single CD will sell better because all the casual listeners who maybe pick up the CD at a store will buy it, where as if it was a double CD and cost a little more, they might not. Our economy is not great, so even someone who is a fan (but not as diehard as a Ledgie!) might not buy the CD because they just don't have a lot of extra $. Especially because the chances of them scoring a top 10 pop song are slim to help them get more exposure (which will equal more sales). I'd rather read that the album cracked the top 10 (hopefully #1!) and sold 4-8 million (hopefully more like 200 million!) than that it cracked the top 20 and then faded into obscurity like BTM or something. And although we are all dying for the new album we have yet to see how the loss of Christine will affect their popularity & sales with the general public. Unfortunately it's an imperfect world for a Fleetwood Mac diehard, but the marketing people might have changed things based on surveys/listeners responses/current market info, etc. Besides, if it's only a single CD, we always have each other and the Ledge for consolation! ![]() |
