New to The Ledge; Stevie Nicks Remix Project - Page 3

Thanks! There are some cool re-mixes here. I have a few not listed and I will try and post later, although they may have been posted here on The Ledge before, as this board is always in constant cycles of threads. I also just got a USB Turntable so I want to rip mp3's of the full vinyl TITN collection of Big Love, Little Lies, Seven Wonders and Family Man (circa 1987). With the latter having quite a few bonus beats and crazed mixes.

I do want to comment on Planets Of The Universe (Illicit Vocal Mix) which I find inferior to Tracy's version. Illicit (I have heard them remix other songs) tends to make remixes very gay, something you would hear at a white party. Not my cup of tea as I find it too "anthem."

I agree that Illicit's Vocal Club Remix is uninspired and frilly, but their Dub Mix is radically different. It's the mix DJs were actually playing. There's also white label pressing of "Music of the Universe," which merges Madonna's Music and Illicit's Vocal Dub of Planets. It doesn't utilize any of Stevie's vocals, but uses the keyboards.

I haven't posted any remixes in a while, so here is "Family Man."

I gave this one a separate post, but I wanted to also include it here for one-stop shopping.

So far, I've posted 76 Stevie Nicks/FM remixes in the "Steve Nicks Remix Project" thread and all the previous links are still good - via Mediafire.

Here are four unexpected remixes which maintain the integrity of the original compositions. GDW is particularly interesting because the remixer, Chicago's DJ Tim A, used a vocal from a live performance.

The other remixes are: Rooms on Fire, Maybe Love Will Change Your Mind and Seven Wonders.

All are 320 Kbps.

I already have that single from 1997 when "Lanslide" was remixed 3 different ways and the live version was featured on it. I liked the remixes they did on that song. They sounded nice and smooth.

Wow! I love the illicit vocal mix...it's actually my favorite of the dance mixes (although I the ext. alb version and the ballad "demo" versions are my favorites) oh well...different strokes!

This was reported on elsewhere on the Ledge, but I thought I'd post an Mp3 of this really great track. It's not actually Stevie's voice, but Radiohead singer Thom Yorke's - manipulated to sound like Stevie's. Radiohead's album debut at number one a few weeks back and the band is on the cover of Rolling Stone.

Now, who was it that said Stevie is no longer relevant?
