Default My myspace profile has been deleted!

Bad news everyone. I am sooooo pissed right now. Myspace.com has deleted my Stevie Nicks Underground page. I don't have any explanation on why this has happened but I did send them a rather angry letter letting them know that all of my music, my photos, EVERYTHING, that I had is now gone. Over 700 photos of Nicks and the Mac is gone. I don't know what is happening, but one of my friends on there told me that I did have a hacker. How they knew I have no Idea. I am so miserable right now. I had worked so hard on everything I did on that page and now it's gone. Has anyone ever had the same problem? I will let all of you as soon as I get a response.

well, all I can tell you is that "they" are out there. The other night I clicked on a link on someone's page only to realize it was a trick to get my pass. I immediately changed my password. Good thing, as the next day when I logged in myspace replied that someone was using my old password to attempt log-in a bazillion times. It is very important to change your password often...if not daily. sorry you lost so much, jacks. Another good idea is to back everything you have (pics, etc) onto a harddrive or flashdrive...that way, when there is a loss, it can be restored.
take care.

that's one of the annoying things about Myspace, because it's so popular, there's alot more mean hacker activity and freaks...

It's also good to be picky about accepting friends requests...unless they specifically email me about a similar interest they found on my page in addition to the friends request or else have their page completed with some significant information that interests me, they are denied!!

that's one of the nice things about the Ledge, it's a best kept secret on the net...

btfl, how did you figure out that link was a password stealer?

Even though something didn't quite seem right, I clicked on a link on someone's page. Before it went to whereever it was taking me I recd a page asking for me to log-in again (never the case when you are already logged in and move from your page). Without really thinking, I entered my info but it just hung there without proceeding to another page. Suddenly the lightbulb went off and I immediately changed my pass. Not a good idea to hit a link on a page of a person you don't know...particularly in the comment section, even if you are curious. The following day there was that message about the bazillion attempts to log-in using my old password. Careful peeps.

Did you have it as a music page and listed as Stevie Nicks? If so that could be why it was deleted

Well, I am ok now about my page. Making another one....I don't know. yes, it was a music page. But what was strange was that there was this one girl who messaged me and told me that someone had hacked into my profile. How would she know if someone hacked into it unless it was her that did it? And plus, how do you know if your profile was being hacked? I just don't understand it. But I have a new place to hang out at here at the Ledge. Thanks everyone.

Sometimes hackers can send comments to people that have to do with ads and giftcards and stuff like that. Maybe she got a comment and sent you a message letting you know.

Hackers are prevelant on MySpace. That is a distinct possibility - it just happened one of my friends. BUT since you had music on your page there is a possibility that MySpace deleted the page - because having a page for someone else's music is a violation of MySpace terms.

Artist pages (made by fans) get deleted daily. Even if you make it clear you're not Stevie Nicks you're still violating terms and conditions by putting her music on your page.

It's easy to get phished on MySpace as well - as someone mentioned - if you click a link and immediately get a "You must log in to do that" page - but you're already logged in- you're likely getting phished - always check the URL on any page you log into.

What I still just don't understand is how they do it? I have been dealing with computers since the second grade and I taught myself alot, and I am still teaching myself a lot about computers but I will never understand how people steal others identities, and hacking into computers and taking peoples bankcard etc. How do these folks sleep at night knowing they treat people this way? I think it's sick. But what can we do???
