It's kind of odd. I never considered the Who as exemplifying class. Fleetwood Mac, yes, somewhat -- like the "sweaty elegance" of PM Magazine -- relative to most arena rock bands of that era. Certainly more nowadays, what with pop tarts in bikinis & all that.

I thought that was the whole point of the chit chat thing. YOU find ths discussion pointless, but I'd like to discuss it. And it wasn't comparing instances over 30 years, but rather FM in 1997 and The Who in 2004. I'm sorry I bothered to post. It won't happen again.

Yikes. You probably don't get much accomplished in life if you take everything other people say so seriously.
![]() I was merely saying I find it a little pointless because you are comparing two bands with an entirely different history (or maybe Pete and Roger hooked up back in the day and that is what drove Keith to madness and his ultimate death ), bands who have been both been around for thirty years, all based on whether a bandmember was interacting with the audience or not while another was doing their standard speech. ![]() By all means, don't let me stop you! |

What you have to remember though is that Pete and Roger didn't always get on, you only have to check out any documentary on the band to see how condescending Pete could be about Roger and how disapproving Roger could be about Pete.
Plus, Pete is the leader in that band. He writes the songs, he gets the concepts together, he tells Roger what to sing. It's no wonder Roger acts respectful when Pete wants to speak on stage. |

I guess for me, the discussion is tough because of the volitility of both group's leaders.
Stevie and Lindsey could be singing "Angel" into her mic together and looking like they are in love one night and then on another night, they are mad and mocking each other. Pete and Roger, same thing. Minus the "in love" part. but buddy buddy one night, looking like enemies on another. both bands have such a looooooong history with so many shows under their belts, to try and pick one or two incidents over the years and decide which band is classier is a very broad, hard discussion. Not saying it's not worth having, just a hard discussion. if it came down to it though, Fleetwood Mac wins for one reason alone. Christine McVie. Now that's class. |

![]() It's OK. I'm sure people from Kentucky qualify for some kind of Animated Gif Welfare program. |

Yeah, but does Pete speak in tongues to get his point across?
