Question The Highwayman

Hi!

My favourite Stevie song is probably "The Highwayman". Now I wonder if there's a live version of this song out there somewhere?

I'm not so good at finding stuff like that on my own, maybe someone have one to share?

I mean she must have played it sometimes on the Bella Donna tour?

It's such a magic song

Sorry, I've never heard a live version of it. I don't think it was ever done, maybe someone knows better though. I never liked the song that much but am getting into it a lot more than I did the first time I heard it.

It's one of my favorites (top 2 or 3), but you won't find much love for it on this board. (Most people here find it boring.)
I have never heard a live version, but I would prefer it as a closer to HAEWAFY or B&tB.

Oh well, thank you for the help and info anyway

I love this song so much, it's hard to understand that so many people don't like it. For me it's just simply one of the most beautiful vocal melodies that I've ever heard.

I really like After the Glitter Fades also, I guess they have the sound in common, a little country influenced.

I think one of my favourite artists Johnny Cash would have done a great version of "The Highwayman"

I love "The Highwayman." I think it's so romantic. This song live would be so emotional. Too bad she doesn't do it to cap off her shows. It would be great as an encore!

Johnny Cash as a matter of fact did do a song called "Highwayman" with Waylon Jennings, willie Nelson, and Kris Kristoferson. It was recorded in the early 1980's. The name of the album was called "Highwayman" and the 4 of them together were called the Highway Men. And there harmonies were wonderfully recorded and that is one of my favorite songs. But to Johnny covering the Stevie song "The Highwayman", I think him and June Carter could've made a great recording out of it.

I know you were and I wasn't quite, but Cory did write how Stevie started singing Southern Nights after a show and Lindsey joined in and sang it with her and they left the room that way together. I honestly wouldn't think Lindsey would know the words to Southern Nights.

I love 'The Highwayman' ... it's one of my favorites, actually... I can't believe that other Stevie fans don't like it??? I agree that it would be a great song for Stevie to 'rediscover' live...

I like 'The Highwayman' but I dont usually listen to it on it's own or in a shuffle on my mp3. To me, that song doesnt really stand on it's own legs but is best appreciated as part of the whole 'Belladonna' experience. I think I've gone on record here that of all Stevie's solo work, 'Belladonna' to me seems most like a concept album. Consequently, I tend to view it as a whole. So, in the once or twice yearly time that I play 'Belladonna' from begining to end, when I get to the last track (which is, of course, 'The Highwayman') I usually think to myself "darn it, that was a fine way to end that album. I get it."

I like the lyrics. That's about all I can say about it.
