lol... I look nothing like my driving license and passport picture. I was pretty huge when they were done and my hair was really short.

Wow, it takes courage to finally admit that you have gone up a size! I know that during my one and only excursion into "heaviness" - about 20 pounds above my fighting weight, I continued to shoehorn myself into my size 30 pants. I had the whole muffin-top thing going on, ripped seams, popped buttons, you name it. And the impression of my belt buckle on my belly fat too! But I never, ever went up a pants size. In hindsight, I suspect that, in reality, I was easily two sizes (or more) above my usual.

Well, I was down to a 32, which at 6'4" is pretty thin. I am getting the 34 Calvin jeans closed and he is not known from being generous with his cuts

But, hope springs eternal and I am off to the gym later!

Oh, you are a big gal, aren't you! Yes, 32 is a wee bit gaunt. I would imagine that 34 is probably much more appropriate for you than 32. And don't mess around with that bitch CK. That stuff shrinks so badly... and heaven forbid you should have any semblance of an a$$ or thighs...

I have a friend who's constantly lamenting about how she wishes she were the size she was when she was 20. I personally don't think anyone should look back & want to be just like they were in the past. Life's a journey & things change - it's not natural to go in reverse. From the pics you've shown here, you've lost weight over the past several months & I think you look great. If you want to lose more, go for it - try for a better/healthier future you. But I wish you wouldn't compare former you to current you - you're not being fair to yourself & it will only make you feel down.

Amen, seriously. Awesome post and advice. There's nothing wrong with wanting to look good as we get older, but no matter what *I* do, I will never be the hot little 20-something I once was *sigh*.

I don't know... I mean, I agree with you about life being a forward-looking journey, etc., but at the same time I think it's a bit defeatist to just sigh and resign yourself to being in a situation that you're not 100% okay with. I would like to think that we should always do whatever it takes to make sure that we are getting better and better in every way- healthier, prettier, smarter, kinder, stronger, and if weight is an issue, leaner too. Why do we have to associate aging with decline? I think that if, for whatever reason, you consider 20 to be your pinnacle physically, there is nothing wrong with striving to get back there. You were there once, so you sure as heck can get up back there again- and perhaps even surpass it.

I just had a flashback to when you were working out like a maniac while Livia & I lounged & stuffed our faces by the Crescent pool.

I've been very lucky all my life to be able to eat anything I want and not gain a pound. Of course, want I want is not sweets, donuts, and other fattening foods...just never liked it much. Six day a week, two-hour work outs sure help.

I know. My fav. jeans ever are Gap. GThey used to last for years and cost $20. Now, they are three times that and do not last as long. Oh Well.

Last night I went to a Holiday Party in a green Burberry sweater with an argyle print on the chest to difuse the protuberant abdominal region Did I mention I wore a shocking Christmas red turtle neck underneath it - not to mention black horse bit loafers Your West Village eyes likely would have been horrified

Word. You can use those old photos for motivation but not to beat yourself up.

There's a lot more jiggle in my wiggle right now although I'm not up a size or heavier. I just haven't been to the gym for a couple few weeks. I got sick and then there's all this Christmas ****e to do. But I'm going to the gym today or at least doing yoga here at home. It is really hard this time of yr so I try to go easy on myself.
