^Still can't get that to load. I want to check whether overseas people can even enter the ballot. Ah well, tough luck, they can just throw me out again.

Vanessa it doesn't say anything under the FAQ or Terms And Conditions about that, so I think you'll be okay.

Is it already assumed that this will be a multi-date run? From the FAQ:

6. What are the concert dates?

The concert dates are detailed on www.ahmettribute.com. Keep checking the website for the latest details, which may change from time to time.

I registered, but I will make sure to register multiple times using multiple addresses. Any other Yanks out there considering this, or am I the only crazy one?

LED ZEP REUNION - TOUR STILL A POSSIBILITY

Having caused meltdown at the O2 box office, Led Zeppelin will know that a reunion tour would be completely sold out. The question is, do they want to go back on the road?
by Gez Kahan
24/09/2007

The surviving members of Led Zeppelin – Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones – will be joined by John Bonham’s son Jason for a one-off appearance at London’s O2 Arena on 26 November in a tribute to Ahmet Ertegun, founder of Atlantic Records. The last time the four appeared on stage together was in 1988 for Atlantic’s 40th birthday party.

Led Zeppelin had disbanded after the death of John Bonham in 1980 (exactly 27 years ago tomorrow), vowing never to tour again, and only appearing in concert at Live Aid in 1985 (with Tony Thompson and Phil Collins on drums) and the Atlantic Records gig three years later. The chances of the band ever reforming were also hit by a rift with Jones, who was reportedly upset not to have been consulted before Page & Plant began touring again. Their reunion for the O2 gig is a measure of the band’s affection and respect for Ertegun.

Industry speculation suggests that Led Zeppelin might consider a full tour if the O2 gig is a success. The possibility was admitted by a close friend of Plant’s at a Music Week-sponsored conference iGuitar attended last week, where a forthcoming tour – but no new recording – was discussed as if it were a done deal. No official confirmation has been forthcoming, however, and no dates or venues have been mentioned.

Meanwhile promoter Harvey Goldsmith has warned fans not to buy tickets for the O2 event through unofficial sources such as eBay. The tickets, priced at £125, are being made available by public ballot to try to prevent touts from profiteering from what is actually a charity concert – profits being donated to scholarships in Ertegun’s name. Demand has been fierce, with over 20 million applications for just 20,000 tickets.

“We just hope and pray that those people who get a ticket in a ballot are just going to act accordingly,” said Goldsmith, adding that tickets offered through internet auction and other unauthorized sources would be cancelled. “They might have paid the money but they ain't going to get the ticket,” he said.

Yeah, with Jason Bonham behind the drums, it has about as much of an interest to me as would a Beatle "reunion" with Julian Lennon & Dhani Harrison in their dad's places. ZZZZzzzzzZZZZZzzzzzz!

"most infuential rock band in history"?? Not a chance. That title is, and always will be, The Beatles.

Agreed on both counts. Although...seeing Page, Plant, and Jones could be exciting. If they play their arses off. Then again, its just a one off concert...so...

Jimmy Page To Hold Press Conference?
Posted by Mitch Michaels on 01.25.2008

What could he be announcing?

According to a posting on the Led Zeppelin fan site Royal-Orleans.com, Led Zep guitarist Jimmy Page will hold a press conference at Park Hyatt Hotel in Shinjyuku, Japan on Monday, January 28th.

It's been anticipated that Led Zeppelin could earn well over $200 million if they toured this year in the wake of last month's reunion show in London. The band has offers from both Live Nation and AEG, with each structuring bids in the form of a large upfront payment to lure the band to their venues.

I am unsure there was a difference during the time of The Beatles, Elvis, etc. I think the acid rock and the guitar crunchers started to define themselves by the early 70's, which is the time The Beatles were somewhat old hat. Remember, the Motown Sound also was defined as rock and roll.

I thought this was 100% in the bag already. No? Hmmm. Well, not a HUGE LZ fan, but this is on my MUST list this year. Still, I'm going to do all I can to go. I am just sure it was sealed. I had heard the Cult was opening and everything. Man...any excuse to go see the Cult again. haha

Nothing's been officially announced, but there were rumours galore. The Cult started the one about themselves opening.

ROBERT PLANT Says No To LED ZEPPELIN Tour And £100M

According to Sean Hamilton from the Sundaymirror.co.uk,

Robert Plant has turned down an extra £100million fortune to take LED ZEPPELIN on a world tour. The rock legend wants to concentrate on his new partnership with US country singer ALISON KRAUSS... spelling the likely end of the famous band.
Led Zep fans had been longing for a tour announcement since last year - when the 1970s superstars reformed for a one-off show at London's O2 Arena.

Surviving members Plant, Robert Page and John Paul Jones were offered a guaranteed £100m each for a tour of North America and Europe after a million fans applied for O2 tickets.

But after extensive talks Led Zep - best known for the song 'Stairway To Heaven'- decided against the moneymaking opportunity.

Guitarist Jimmy Page, 64, was keen to do the tour this year and was backed by bass player John Paul, 62.

But singer Plant, 59 - already worth an estimated £70million - wants to concentrate on his new success with US country singer Krauss. The pair's duet album Raising Sand went to No 2 in America and Britain and they are starting their own tour in April.

A band source said: "Despite the enormous offer, the decision did not come down to money. They always said they would do the one-off show and then see how they felt."
