My mom was going to name me either Noel or Emmanuel because I was born so close to Christmas.

My dad had a co-worker named Noel who he hated - so he vetoed that. And Emmanuel was the name of a porn series thing - so he vetoed that.

Then my mom was going to name me Danielle (after my uncle Danny) - but that was vetoed as apparently they thought, at birth, I'd be a moron - they figured that would be too hard for me to learn to spell what that time came

And I still don't know how she ended up with Deanna - but that one stuck! I pretty much hated my name growing up as no one could get it right. I was, and still am, always being called: Dana, Diana, Dina....I mean come on, how hard is Deanna...really?

When I go to a restaurant and they ask my name I always say, "DEEEEanna..." like I really emphasize - yet I almost always still get called "Diana".

I've gotten used to my name over the years but have never really liked it.
