Default Just curious,like...

Not that it´s any of my business, just wondered...

On classic albums.Lindsey said "Christine´s background was in the blues, mine wasn´t.."
What is Lindsey´s musical background?

On Buckingham Nicks album Stevie is named Stevi,
When was e added or was it just a misspelling?

Does/did Stevie smoke?
On Tango in the night video, stevie´s holding what looks like to be a cigarette in her hand(Though it doesn´t seem to be alight)
Later she´s seen sipping a drink with a straw,is that what she´s holding?

When Buckingham Nicks joined Fleetwood mac they were in the middle of making another record.
Did they have a recording contract that had to be bought out for them to be able join FM?

What is the first song written by Christine to be published?
Did any of her songs make it to Chicken shack records or are the songs on Christine Perfect first example?
What about on Fleetwood mac,are there any on Kiln house?

On the cover of Live (-80)Lindsey and Stevie are with their backs to the audience,is it made out of two photos?

Has Lindsey toured solo before last year?
Did Christine ever do solo gigs or even live performances on tv?
What about John, did he do gigs with Lola Thomas?

Is the Fleetwood mac rock´n´roll hall of fame induction on you tube?
I couldn´t find it,there´s plenty of others?
What did they perform there?

The only release on Immediate label was Man of the world single, why?
They were well succesful, surely they would´ve been offered longer contract,
or was it already known Immediate was in financial trouble?
Or was there already existing contract with Reprise?

I know i should mind my own business, but
you know sometimes, curiosity just takes the better of us....

The first song that Christine wrote & had published was "It's OK With Me Baby". This song was Chicken Shack's first single back in 1967. She wrote or co-wrote 2 songs on Chicken Shack's first album & another 2 songs on their second album. She also wrote another song that was Chicken Shack's third single.

She didn't write any songs on Kiln House. She only contributed electric piano & backing vocals. She also drew the album cover.

Chris did a brief solo tour to promote her solo album in 1984. I don't think she did any live TV, but she did appear on Solid Gold & American Bandstand. Those performances were lipsynched though, not live.

I think Lindsey's background is in more folky things. I know that Kingston Trio were a big influence on him. Donovan Leitch must have also had some influence since Lindsey covered To Try For The Sun on his latest album. And then there's always the Brian Wilson influence.

I'm sure the longer time fans will know more than me about this stuff.

I'll take a stab at some of these, and some of the more knowledgable ledgies can come in and add more details or whatever.

I don't recall that particular part of the Tango video as I haven't watched it in a good 5 or 6 years - or more, maybe - but Stevie did smoke. What did she say... a pack a day for many years? I'm not sure when she quit.. maybe one of the Stevie fans can clarify this further.

I always understood it to be that they were straight-up dropped from Polydor's label. Given all the talk they've done about how they were "struggling to make ends meet", and Stevie was cleaning Olsen's house, I would doubt that they had a paying contract with a label at all after they were dropped.

You know, I've thought about this a lot. Every time I pull out my Live records, I stare at the cover for a bit trying to decide if I think it's 2 photos or if it's just heavy blur. Around Lindsey, it kind of looks like there could be a second photo under there with him facing the other way. Stevie's face kind of looks like it's covered with what could be her hair in a forward-facing 2nd photo. And, there's a little bit of shape near Chris' head that I can't decide on. But around Mick and John in particular, I don't see much in the way of a second photo. It's a riddle in an enigma.

Lindsey did a fairly short list of shows to support Out of the Cradle in 93. I don't know how many there were on the tour itinerary.. but it wasn't a lot.

I'll let the Christine people answer the Christine question... she did have tv performances that I seem to recall. And also, the Christine McVie video album!

I don't know about John and Lola. I don't think so, but I've never read anything about it one way or the other. I think it would have been mentioned somewhere along the line if it'd happened.

I don't know about You Tube. Someone may have to come in and correct me here, but I believe they played.. Landslide, Big Love, Say You Love Me... I think that might be it. I don't remember them playing anything else. Peter Green did not play with Fleetwood Mac. Santana was inducted in the same year (98), and he played Black Magic Woman with Carlos. I don't remember if Peter played anything else with Santana or not.

Yeah. She said she started smoking in 1984, when she was in between producers for RAL and stuck in Phoenix, bored out of her mind. According to her she smoked her last cigarette on New Year's Eve 1996, but multiple fans have seen her light up one during, for instance, soundchecks. So I don't think she ever really quit, but she probably went down from those two packs a day.

That's what I think also. I think they were allowed to use the studio as an indulgence, not because they had a recording contract. They were probably going to shop around for one again once the tracks were finished.

One thing that surprised me when I read the Warren Zevon book is that Eddie Ponder said that Lindsey was still traveling with Zevon (on the Everly tour) and making (what Ponder thought was) good money when Lindsey got the offer from Mick.

Eddie Ponder says that he and Lindsey were walking down the street to get a Foster's drink when Lindsey said he got a call from Fleetwood Mac and was thinking about joining the band. Eddie was shocked, cursed and asked Lindsey if he was crazy. He told Lindsey he had a great life, was making $450 a week and got to hang out with celebrities. Why, oh why would he want to join Fleetwood Mac! I was not previously aware that Lindsey's work on the road had continued right up to the time he got Fleetwood Mac's phone call.

I thought they were flat broke too. So, I'm not sure whom to believe on that. Eddie or Stevie? I will say that when Stevie was in Europe a couple of years ago and said she moved out of the apartment with Lindsey and then had to swallow her pride and ask to come back, I was shocked. She had always maintained that she paid the rent on that apartment. So, she leaves and Lindsey keeps up the apartment and she is the one who ends up homeless? It tells me that Lindsey did have an income, independent of Stevie's waitressing and housecleaning. He and Richard couldn't have been just bouncing the rent check for months on end.

I read that about the Warron Zevon book also, and honestly, it's all a bit skewy. Recently a letter from Stevie's mom surfaced somewhere and in it she wrote to an aunt of Stevie's that Stevie was in New York City now and she hoped that she would be making some money of her own now because the Nicks' had continued to support their "spoiled" daughter. The letter was dated 1975 or 1976. So it's not like she had no place else to go but back to Lindsey.

If you ask me, them joining Fleetwood Mac had less to do with the lack of money and more to do with getting nowhere in the music business and Lindsey being out doing what he wanted to do while Stevie was at home doing, well, nothing. According to them, Stevie was the one that made the choice to join, Lindsey would just as rather have continued with Buckingham Nicks.

Their manager Clifford Davies (aka, Adams) kind of screwed their Blue Horizon label. The contract was about to run out and instead of negotiating to extend the contract, Davis let it run out without even reminding the record company. He then took the master tapes and made a one record deal with Immediate, just so that "Man Of The World" could be released quickly and not on Blue Horizon. Meanwhile, Peter Green was negotiating (well, just talking, not serious "negotiations" per se) with John Lennon about signing Fleetwood Mac to the Beatles' Apple Records label, when Davis announced to the band he'd already agreed to and signed the deal with Reprise.

And, I hope that answers your questions.

"I wouldn't be here at all without Elvis Presley and without my older brother who bought the record of Heartbreak Hotel. Any number of Beatles albums, maybe Revolver or Rubber Soul." (Performing Songwriter, 2003)

"The first song I wrote, I think, was called Butterfly, and it was in the vein of something off James Taylor's Sweet Baby James." (Rolling Stone, May 2003)

"Stevie" spelled in Billboard capsule review of Buckingham Nicks gig in New York in March 1974 issue. Stevi referred to as Stevie in Feb 1975 article in Birmingham After Dark, before white album released. But Dan Hedges article in December 1974 in Rock magazine refers to "Stevi"

No contract. They were recording tracks on spec, hoping to land another deal & get a second album out. See Keith Olsen's Q&A here.

Two photos: one from May 1980 & one from September 1980.

Can you source this?

I'd like to see the two photographs individually... any idea if they're floating around?
