I was just talking about Eddie Ponder saying Lindsey was making $450 a week when Mick asked him to join FM in another thread and thought I'd mention the other FM references I saw in I'll Sleep When I'm Dead, although I realize you guys might have hit on them all already.

*When on the Everly Bros. tour, they stayed in a motel in Arlington, VA called the Knights Arm. It was full of a weird assortment of people (one of whom Warren dibbed a "Cuckaboo"), including Nazis (from the Nazi headquarters across the street) and management that worshipped Don Everly and had several shrines to him at the place. Once, they came back to their room to find that some one had defecated right on the floor and they launched a spy investigation to figure out who it was, even sneaking into the room belonging to the guy at the front desk when he wasn't there, to see if he had something to do with it. Warren and Lindsey ended up writing a song about the laughable ordeal called, "The Pope of Rome, the Cuckaboo and the One Who Shat in Our Faces."

* When they got to Aspen, Stevie joined the band to spend time with Lindsey. Regarding Landslide's creation, Stevie never mentioned exactly which friends she was visiting when she wrote it, but from what Crystal Zevon writes, Stevie was staying at Crystal's mother's house. They bunked there to save money on lodging while the band played.

*Warren hired Lindsey to play rhythm guitar on the Everly Bros. gig and had also hired Waddy for the band earlier. When he hired Waddy he told him he had to cut his hair to be on the road, because the Everly Bros. had a certain image. There's no mention of whether Lindsey was told to cut his hair.

* Waddy says they had a hard time recording Werewolves in London and they tried all sorts of different musicians and none of them seemed to click. Finally they got the idea to call up Mick and John. Mick and John came over and it turned out they were drunker than Warren and Waddy were. They kept messing up the song and had to do over 60 takes. Mick was ready to keep on going, but they told him they would use the 2nd take after all. Waddy said they had to finish the rest of the album on a shoestring because they used up most of their budget doing takes of that one song.

* Warren played Reconsider Me for Crystal when the 2 of them were thinking about getting back together and she loved it. Andy Slater loved it too and called Jimmy Iovine and said he had to put it on Stevie's album. Jimmy agreed. Stevie recorded the song, but Chrissie Hynde, Fiona Apple and Don Henley did too and none of them put it on an album. When Stevie did a box set, Andy Slater says they just threw the song on there because they were so desperate to have it released.

That's a friggin sin! I'd give just about anything to hear any of those other artists (ESP. Fiona!) rendition. Such a lovely song from an amazing talent. I find it hard to belive these other artist cut it, but didn't add it to their works. Hmmph!

On a side note, was going to mention that I was watching this lame movie called the Benchwarmers, and @ the end it said Music by Waddy Wachtel. Now I realize he oversees music for movies and such, but that duty was given to someone else. So music by WW, how does that work? Anyone know? I mean, the back ground music and stuff? Don't mean to threadjack...it's semi-related.

Didn't Stevie write Landslide & Rhiannon when she was in Aspen & Lindsey was touring with the Everly tour? What year was that? 1974?

Stevie wrote Landslide then. I think she wrote Rhiannon at home, based on her whole recreation of the conversation with Lindsey and Richard, although she definitely has put them together as both being written 3 months before she joined FM. So, I guess she wrote them right about now, 33 years ago. Michele

He's listed as the composer on imdb.

He's also listed with this credit for the film: The Benchwarmers (2006) (writer: "The Apologies") (performer: "The Apologies")

And I happen to think Benchwarmers was really terrific.
