Default Video of Nightbird Live that I haven't seen (not the SNL version)

So, just found this as I was trying to find some live videos of Stevie live in 1991 (not the Arsenio Hall) and I came accross this Nightbird. Very cool, never seen it before. Hope you guys enjoy.

That is from Saturday Night Live. Flip Wilson hosted that episode and Stevie did two songs, "Stand Back" and "Nightbird". The only other known live performance of the song is from "Solid Gold".

Both performances are great. I wish she could have sung like this throughout the tour.

I always assumed it was David Adelstein playing piano at this appearance. I never knew what David looked like. Here's his current photo:

I don't think it's he, do you? David is a DJ in the valley these days. I wonder why he isn't doing session work any more? Who is playing the piano on Saturday Night Live? Everybody else on TV was in Stevie's touring band.

No, that would be Billy Payne from Little Feat, who also played the piano on the studio version as well. He is my second fave pianist (Roy Bittan being #1) to have worked with Stevie.

HELL YES! Roy Bittan kicks ass. If damn Bruce Springsteen hadn't been working on his new album this summer, I bet he would have toured with Stevie in place of Cornell.

Well I'll be a good goddamn. Thanks, Hejira! Payne's the guy who covered the US Festival B3 for Stevie, in place of Benmont Tench, right? And I think he did some of the tour shows with Stevie, too, in November, right? I vaguely remember hearing Tulsa & Ames in November, & Payne is on B3 (maybe because Benmont had to do the Long After Dark tour?).
