I hate to say this, but you didn't exactly give it a rarin' jump start with this post.

Nowthen: I hate to say this, but I think "American Dad" is fifty times more clever and funny and smart then "Family Guy".

Family Guy is pretty funny. But it's mostly references to other media, combined with really lowbrow physical and mental humor.
Whereas, American Dad has actual political and social points, not to mention the cleverness is more clever.
References to other media is good, and can be funny, but it can't take the place of new, better thoughts about actual things that are happening, with political and social points combined with the super cleverness and all, plus some media references. The blend of both things that is inherent in American Dad just strikes me as head and funnier above family guy.

I even find Family Guy much less clever than Simpsons. Although family guy wins hands down in the "references to other media" category. And by "wins", I mean "has the most", because other shows do it more cleverly if not as prolifically and exactly. And by "other shows", I mean South Park and Simpsons.
Family Guy wins pretty good on gross and groan dirty jokes. And I mean that in a good way. Don't get me wrong, I like Family Guy, too. In fact, I'm watching it now, as it took the place of my magical hour of Simpsons then South Park from 10:00-11:00 that I treasured so much. Now I have to wait until one a.m. if I want to see South Park.
I thought I'd be totally stoked and riveted, as I have never seen all the Family Guys, and love it on Sundays - but I have not been riveted, and have been doing other things during it. Kinda sad, for me. In a productive way. Still, I am surprised it doesn't hold my attention. And thus the crux of my point. As Stewie would say.

I would say, if I compared, that American Dad is the highbrow and more innovative, clever cousin of Family Guy, and it is also more abstractly, randomly goofy. With minimal yet hilarious media references. And it makes me laugh way, way, way more. Naturally, everyone I say this to doesn't agree. You gotta branch out. You will be justly rewarded with hilarity if you do. Unless you...uh...nevermind.
And of course it goes without saying that South Park is the best.

I hate to say this, but, I don't like American Dad. It just gets on my nerves. I couldn't really say why... maybe it's just because I liked Family Guy first and it feels like a rip off.

I like the stupidity of Family Guy. And all the little tiny segments that just get tossed in, seemingly out of nowhere.

I really, really like Aqua Teen Hunger Force... but I don't try to make other people like it. It's just naturally hilarious to me.

Isnt Family Guy a rip off? I dont find it original at all. There are times when its funny (Herbert the old man) but other than that I dont laugh at it.

A lot of people say Family Guy rips off a lot of stuff the Simpsons did... but I've probably only seen 3 episodes of the Simpsons in the entire time it's been on, so the jokes are newish to me. I've seen American Dad a couple of times... it just had no appeal.

I really don't watch tv very much, but my partner has the Family Guy DVDs and I find them to be entertaining. I think a large part of its appeal to me is the voice acting... they're just incredibly funny.

(I do a great Herbert impression, with the whistle between the teeth and all. I have a present for you in my pocket, why don't you reach down there and get it. )

No, that's good (although heavy on cholesterol).

I hate to say this, but I saw Joan Rivers on Home Shopping the other day, & her head looks like a ceramic fruit.

I think she's using Michael Jackson's plastic surgeon.

I hate to say this, but colognes and perfumes stink. I can not stand the big stench that people soak to their skin. Nothing worse than being in an elevator with a foul stench masked as a high end smell. Or worse, getting into an empty elevator that still reeks from someone. Yuck. Not to mention walking and enjoying the fresh air and someone kills my senses with their perfumed stench.

The worst are clubs. Everyone thinks their **** doesn't smell. Oh gawd, the combination of all those perfumes and colognes in the air is absolutely repugnant.

And lastly, if I have to endure another lame Gwen Stefani perfume commercial, I will "no doubt" puke and then write the FCC.
