i knew it was spun out of the play "idioglossia", but i didn't know that it was actually based on a true story. i can see that it would be, it just never occurred to me.

I actually have met Jodie. I waited on her a bunch of times. She is very cool..very smart. I met her after she shot Silence Of The Lambs. We talked about theatre, Marsha Norman (the playwright)...she did her play Getting Out in Yale. I was in a play at the time..and she would always ask me how it was all going.We talked about her home in France. Very sweet..LOVED HER!!!

That's so cool. I love meeting people that I admire greatly.

I should add (not on your list), but Contact. I struggle with the film as a whole, but Foster really was amazing in this. Strange how the movies I love her in are not on your list. But there is no doubt she has an incredible and long résumé.

i shelled out $8 for it. and i preferred it to panic room, actually ... i just hated how stupid her character was in that movie.

Totally. I was embarrassed for her. I wonder if it was a studio contractual obligation or did it just sound good on paper?

Then again, I'm not big on these action/drama films as a whole as I find them appealing to the lowest common denominator. But there are exceptions. Flightplan is not one of them.

really? that didn't really bother me. I was probably too busy staring at Jared Leto, trying to make Dwight Yoakam out of the that mess of mangled face...and trying to figure out exactly where Forest Whitaker was looking.

No Little Man Tate? I have a strange liking for that film. But, it's actually my #2 pick, as Silence of the Lambs happens to be my favorite movie of all time. So I went with that.

I really think Contact is a great movie. It may have been kind of far fetched, but I thought it was interesting from a philosophical standpoint. That and Silent of the Lambs are my favorite JF films.
