I also love the MAC version of If you Were My Love with Lindsey singing on the chorus at the end. That one too had great vocals and was supposed to be on Mirage. Stevie is singing that song at the Rolling Stone photo shoot and it's playing in the background. So go figure their Stevie song selection especially on Tango. Yuck!!!. Such a shame. There are so many other great ones like Mirror Mirror that should have made it on an album. What were they/she thinking? Don't tell me it was because of space issues like with what happened with Silver Springs on Rumours.
I am totally with you there....how sad that most of ther favorite wonderful versions of songs we really want don't make it to a LP/Cd how sad really. Just like 'All The Beautiful Worlds' should've been on WH too me in place of 'I Will Run To You'....it's an OK song but it's no SDMHA .....I also think some songs on RAL could've been picked better too. Some songs are only 'filler' songs.....I love Mirror, Mirror...that really should've been the title to RAL really....maybe if Jimmy & Stevie could've only gotten along....maybe it would've been a more cohesive LP...too me it's kinda choppy.....I agree about the angry SAY version and IYWML....both should've been on Mirage.....they need to put re-issue's out too with and extra cd....but who knows how long /if ever we'll see the light of day to those records...same with the Live '80's cd.....with a complete extra cd......release all of there Video's on dvd with many extras...release Tusk doc on dvd with an extra dvd....Mirage dvd releaesed with extras....Stevie needs to release the 'whole' HBO concert on dvd....with extras.....I could go on and on.....of course I'm dreaming aren't I....Stevie needs to re-issue all of her solo cds with extras but that probably won't happen....Like I said I'm just dreaming.......anyway, I could keep going on and on.....I recall Stevie said in an interview (before Mirage was released--don't recall the mag?) she said something about she wrote the song Smile At You....but that it probably won't go on the record...something about...it's not were there all at right now....sad...it is a great version and should've been released on that LP.....

Mick felt that the song was too angry and conflicted with Stevie's image at the time. Also I think they wanted to dodge the inevitable question of who the song was about. So it was agreed that she would do That's Alright instead.

Thats a shame, They should have put SAY on Mirage anyways
I would have prefered it to Cant Go Back.
I still think they let Linds put too many songs on the album, I Love all [except CGB, which I still like], but its a shame how Stevie and Chris got somewhat shortchanged.

To me it doesnt fit on SYW, the version is quite bad compared to the demo that is in question here.

I think the real question is, why didn't she use it on Tango?! I always thought Smile at You and Planets would have been great on that record instead of the duds she contributed there.
Those were good songs too, but I agree that "Smile At You" would have been a great addition to the record. Planet was another demo that was better than the final product. The first time I heard it (just like SAY) I couldn't believe it wasn't used for something as is.

And-True Dat.

If You Were My Love should have been on Tango, Instead of Family Man....It would have fit there or Mirage, But Im happy with Mirage how it is, except CGB, and SAY would have been better for the album IMO. Just Remix IYWML to the '80s beat' as TITN was, and it would have fit perfectly.
