There was a ghost in the house I lived in from the age of 13-17 (me, not the ghost).

gad, were you scared? what did it do?

I'll share this: my friend bought a home in the historic part of Martinez CA, and the home was at various times a boarding house, a Nunnery, and a bed and breakfast. Around the turn of the 20th century (1900's) there was a flu pandemic. many of the residents died. some became ghosts in the house. specifically, there was a music teacher who loved dogs, a young child, and the man who owned the home. The music teacher and the young child stayed around and wreaked havoc of various kinds throughout the decades. by the time my friend bought the place, the resident ghosts were very comfortable.

on Halloween, the youngster would play pranks with the lighting, and run up and down the stairs. this could be seen/heard very clearly.

One Christmas, my friend had some company over and everyone was awakened at a very early hour by piano playing in the foyer. I need not tell you, no one was sitting at the piano. needless to say, the company left rather abruptly.

When we were looking at the house (to buy), my dad and I went down into the basement. My dad was making measurements (for his workshop) and I suddenly became really frightened. Something flashed in my mind but I had no idea what it was- just that I was scared. My parents bought the house and I was always scared to go down into the basement, but I no one ever thought that was anything more than a 13 year old girl being afraid of spiders or whatever.

My bedroom and my parent's bedroom were on the same thermostat, separate from the rest of the house. My room was always freezing cold no matter what my dad did to try and fix it. It could be 90 degrees in my parents room and 60 in mine.

One winter morning, I got out of the shower and when I walked into my bedroom, all of the windows were wide open. You could sometimes smell perfume and hear a woman talking or crying in the house.

After about a year, my parents were talking to our neighbors about the history of the house. This particular neighbor's aunt and uncle were previous owners of the house. The aunt and uncle had a son who died when he was a young child. He jumped off the bulkhead at the beach and ruptured his spleen. The mother was inconsolable and when the husband came home from church one day, he found his wife hanging in the basement. Turns out, my bedroom was the little boy's bedroom.

Nice, huh?

Well, I don't know what the history is of the place we're living in now (we're renting and moving next weekend) but we're def. not alone. I got scratched a few times on my lower arm and my back. The dog whines and looks at something that we can't see, we hear footsteps on the stairs, stuff gets moved, cold spots etc. The biggest thing was at Christmas last year. All of a sudden the lights started to blink, we thought there was something wrong with the plug or something so we messed with it and it seemed fine. After a while it started to blink again and I (I watch Ghost Hunters) asked:"Is there someone here who'd like to talk us?". I was totally kidding but the lights blinked twice. We were like "yeah right" so Peg said:"Blink once for no and twice for yes". And it blinked twice. So we asked questions like 'are you happy here?' blinked twice and 'are you female' blinked twice etc. And every time we asked a question the lights would blink. Turns out she scratched me to get attention, she loves to play with the dog and is a young child who loves to play tricks which is why stuff gets moved. We're totally fine with her now. She's not scary or anything, just a kid. Since we couldn't find out her name we call her Jessie and she seems to be fine with that.

That's what paranormal investigators call a cold spot. It means that there is activity, that there is a spirit present draining energy from the heat. Great story, btw.

I had the lights flickering experience after my partner died, among many other things.

I believe in ghosts, but I don't like the idea that some souls would stick around permanently in the house they lived in. Seems like there should be a better place for us to go.

I've never had any personal experiences with ghosts or spirits, but I'm inclined to think there's something to all these stories. I also think it's interesting that so many ghosts seem to have died grisly deaths, or were apparently experiencing a lot of mental anguish at the time of death. In Buddhism, the pretas or hungry ghosts (one of the six realms where beings can be reborn) are said to be in a constant state of craving which can never be satiated. This is why many Buddhists will sit with the deceased for a period of time after death and chant, pray, or meditate - to help the person avoid rebirth in one of the lower realms.

I've never had a "paranormal" experience, but I for one believe that it would be highly naive to think that there are not things beyond what our naked eye can view.

Well don't know if this falls into the same category..but a few years ago..my dog Buster passed away..mind you he was not just my dog..but my best friend and companion for 13 years..he traveled back and forth 2 countries with me.He died right around christmas time and I had him creamated..I was beyond grief at the time, and just wanted his remains home where he belonged but since it was the holidays it was taking longer than they should..One night after crying myself to sleep..I was laying on my stomach and suddenly felt something on my legs..I woke up and just laid there for a minute and could still feel like something was lying on legs..(Buster used to always sleep with his nose across my legs.) That is exactly what it felt like..him jumping up on the bed and laying down on my legs. A few months later , I would have to searching for my other dal Maggie and find her sitting in my office staring up at the shelf where Buster's urn is..She also to this day will not lay on my side of the bed ,where Buster used to sleep..If I try to make her ,she gets all frantic and jumps off the bed..

that gave me goosebumps.

NOW: my daughter mentioned to me one night that for the past 3 years she's noticed an eerie howling noise in town (She lives in Stirling City smack up against the Plumas National Forest). She said last year she heard this howling from several animals, calling to each other about 2am. very loud, sounding like a banshee. she got curious and went outside to stand on her porch and heard running noises. she said whatever it was, it was FAST! This year she heard it once in July and once in August. (she left town for a week right after she heard it so I dont know if there was more activity or not) Anyway, I had her at my house recently, so we went online to listen to audio clips of various animals--wolves, bears, cougars, bull elk, moose etc. She said the closest was bull elk, but it wasnt right. She went home, and I continued to search for audio clips. I then had a brainstorm, and did a search for "bigfoot audio" I didnt know what to expect but I found this link and I played the clips. I gotta tell you, when I played them, it was night, the house was all dark and I got covered with goosebumps. I called my daughter and played the clips for her, and she said "MOM, thats IT!!!" ACK!!! my daughter lives in Bigfoot's backyard!!!

The interesting thing is, CA has the 2nd highest number of sightings, Washington being first. I made a report to the BFRO and spoke with an investigator on Friday night.
Apparently, my county has a pretty high contact level (higher than the number of reports listed on the site) so, I dont mind telling you, I am freaked out.

btw, here is a link to a pretty scary 911 call....

this whole site (go to the home page) is freaky, and I dont think Im ever going camping again.

edited to add this:
