What was noteworthy was that Jacks (and the bands) raised over $40,000 for autistic children. Not that this or that wasn't up to par.

The only thing that I noticed was that one of the two keyboard players was not in synch at the beginning of two songs so it sounded as if Stevie was singing off key when in actuality she was not. I attributed that to the fact that Brett was not on tour with Stevie this summer and may have come in cold, at the last minute, as a favor to Stevie.

Can't wait to see if she does Vegas again.

There were many, not to say it's a bad show though. I think her visual screens really would've added to the show, especially considering she was following ZZ Top who had a great light show...It made her show seemed more "tame." It was good, don't get me wrong, but some of the technical errors were annoying. Like when Jimmy was playing and the lights were not on him, they were on Lenny, and Lenny is yelling and telling them to put the lights on Jimmy!

Also Stevie's spotlight went off of her at the wrong times a few times

All I said was that people could/should be more forgiving and less critical because it was a charity event that raised $40,000 for autistic kids and that the technical difficulties weren't that obvious. Since you in particular were not there, and I was, I would think, that a reasonable person would accept the fact that I just might have a valid point and leave it at that. So my question is: Are you a reasonable person?

If you are then kindly re-read my posts and you will quickly learn that I never once said that the artists donated their time and that no one make a profit. Nor did I intimate that the event was an amateurish or homey event as you erroneously surmised from my statement that it was "a charity event."

Kelly,

I respectfully disagree with your observation that "the sound is not that great in the front row." It was great. I was there-were you?

Peace

I was there, while not in the front row, I was in Row 15, I found that the sound was not so bad..It was more the lighting problems and visual problems that annoyed me
. The blogger made a good point, that if the crowd was all Stevie fans it wouldn't have been a big deal, but we as fans kind of are always wanting Stevie to be portrayed in the best light..At this show she was headlining, after other huge artists, and her set just seemed to not be as big as their's, even though she was billed as the headliner..

I just would have liked for all those other casual fans and maybe non-fans to see the REAL Stevie show, with the great lighting and visual effects she has added into her set as of late. I'm just big on technical things like lighting I suppose.

Granted, both Top and Fleetwood Mac's gypsy woman made wise use of their time. Stevie stopped at all the obvious signposts: "Stand Back" to open, "Edge of Seventeen" near the end, plenty of Mac in the middle, though in her quest to set her versions apart from the originals, she needlessly elongates and overplays "Rhiannon," "Dreams" and "Gold Dust Woman."

Pretenders and Stray Cats stand out at Jack FM concert
dailybulletin.com

Stevie Nicks went on until shortly before 10 p.m. She seemed agitated about the amphitheatre's curfew and that her set would be cut short. After one song, she went backstage for a costume change and realized it was at the wrong time (at least Nicks was honest in admitting this to the crowd).

Little had changed from recent solo tours. Overwrought synthesizer and electronic drums signaled "Stand Back." The nine-piece band tended to overwhelm Nicks' voice (a middling sound mix didn't help). Clad in flowing black chiffon dress, the Fleetwood Mac chanteuse sashayed across the stage. "If Anyone Falls" suffered from dated '80s production and shouty vocals.

Instead of relying on her other solo hits, Nicks concentrated on Mac faves and all worked well. A soft piano instrumental preceded "Rhiannon," "Dreams" was lush and smooth and "Gold Dust Woman" had more of dramatic flair. Nicks, wearing her trademark shawls, twirled and sang into a microphone stand draped in beads.

Tom Petty rocker "I Need to Know" was dashed off, then Nick said, "this song is about compromise." The acoustic-based version of the Mac's "Landslide" had some guys singing along with their girlfriends. A percussion heavy "Edge of 17" closed the main set.
1 - How is Dreams elongated? Am I missing something? Yes, the Rhiannon intro and the ending of GDW do make them a bit longer than their original 4 minutes, but Dreams?

2 - Aren't all versions of Landslide acoustic? I mean, they're obviously amplified, but on acoustic guitar...am I missing something on this too?

After reading this, I can't help but recall the "Storms" thread where you berated Carrie for attacking you because she didn't agree with your opinion. Seems like you're the one on the attack here. Just because someone wasn't at that particular show means they can't have an opinion?

What does being at the concert have to do with anything? You keep saying people should be "forgiving" of certain things because it's a charity event and I'm saying that this wasn't really charity event, rather a big radio-sponsored concert with a tiny bit of proceeds going to a charity. I see no logic in your argument. And I think a critic who attended the show has a right to express his/her opinion. You can disagree with the opinion, but instead you choose to say that the critic should be more forgiving because $40K went to charity.

I didn't have to be at the show to disagree with your premise. I didn't respond until you stated your flawed argument for the zillionth time.

I rest my case! If nothing else you are certainly predictable. I respectfully disagree with your observations finding them self-serving at best childish at worse. Have a nice day!

I was not at this particular show but I have been front row at dozens of Stevie/Mac shows. Have you? Even the sound techs who work for Stevie would tell you that the sound is better several rows back. From my own personal experience, the sound is more muffled/distorted if you are directly in front of the speakers. Your own personal experience is obviously different so there is no point in debating this any further....

Maybe the front row sound was better at this show, because they weren't right up at the stage. They had a barricade, with guards in between the front row people and the stage..so They were really about 6ft from the speakers in the front row.

Thumbs up

Kelly,

Thank you for understanding that debating the issue, of whether or not the sound was or was not good at the stage for Jack's 2nd Show last Saturday, is not warranted.

Personally, I'm not concerned about winning or losing or being right or being wrong. I'm concerned about the unwillingness, of a handful of posters on this chat board, to agree to disagree. I am glad that you are not one of them.

Peace

Well, this is my first attempt at removing watermarks. This is the same image posted here earlier, but it had a watermark before and some were cropped above the watermark, so here it is:

I am working on others now that I know how to do it.

Having now read the Storms book thread and this post, I've got Carol figured out. She is shocked when anyone disagrees with her, accuses people of attacking her when they are just attacking the argument, then goes on to attack others while accusing them of being bullies who are trying to silence her. I give her props: it is a really complex set of behaviors. Then she adds some unnecessary and insincere platitudes like "have a nice day" and hearts to make it look like she's a really nice person who rises above it all.

Never seen someone so transparent.

No one bullies you, Carol. You state an opinion, someone will disagree. That's why it's a discussion board. Perhaps you should just keep a diary.
