Last thing I heard was that there was going to be a drastic change in the world of technoglogy. Not that technology is going to cease to exist, but the cycle has to be broken somewhere, and that's when it will happen. People need to go back to basics in order to appreciate what it is that they have.

Not my words, blame the freakin' Mayans.

I think you've got a point. Basic skills like food growing, food canning, knitting, farming, animal husbandry etc, are lost arts, and even more basic, trapping, skinning, survival skills......I think those are essential things to know. And the generation that could be teaching us is dying off. I know none of those skills and Im afraid that if something DID happen, I wouldnt be able to care for my family I wanted to put my son in Boy Scouts but they require a scout to participate in some sort of religion, and I abhore organized religions. Scouting does not recognize wicca. or any other earth based religion. So, thats out. and thats a shame really...

*Drum roll, please*

Are you Wicca?
Does "Animal husbandry" have anything to do with my relationship to Janet's hubby Jeff?

Im as much wicca/pagan as anything else. Im an eclectic mix of eastern/western and earthbased. I just didnt want to be forced to have my son go to a church in order to be a boy scout. That frosted my cookies. I think boy scouts would have given him just the sort of survival skills he would need if a tragedy occurred

as for your relationship with Jeff, Im not touching that with a 10ft pole! (you baa-aaad boy you!)

Cripes. After everything else I've been through, now I have to live to see the end of the world?
