Default O.J. Simpson's 'If I Did It' to be published

http://www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/book....ap/index.html

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- A literary agent for the family of stabbing victim Ronald Goldman has made a deal to repackage and publish O.J. Simpson's canceled "If I Did It" book about the slayings of Goldman and Simpson's ex-wife, a spokesman for the agent said Monday.

Fred Goldman, father of the slain Ron Goldman, gained the rights to O.J. Simpson's book in July.

1 of 2 Details of the agreement, including the name of the New York publishing house, will be released Tuesday, said Michael Wright, a spokesman for Los Angeles-based literary agent Sharlene Martin of Martin Literary Management.

"The family and publisher have pledged to leave Simpson's manuscript entirely intact, but they will also add key commentary," Wright said in a prepared statement. "The Goldmans, the publisher and Sharlene Martin will all contribute portions of sales proceeds to the Ron Goldman Foundation for Justice."

Wright declined further comment. Martin primarily represents self-help, nonfiction and memoir writers, including "You'll Never Nanny in This Town Again" author Suzanne Hansen, according to her Web site.

The Simpson book, in which he reportedly explains how he might have committed the killings, was not released last year as originally planned because of public outrage.

Last month, a federal bankruptcy judge awarded rights to the book to Goldman's family to help satisfy a $38 million wrongful death judgment against the former football star.

Simpson has maintained his innocence in the 1994 killings of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Goldman. Simpson, who now lives near Miami, was acquitted of murder in 1995.

"Confessions Of A Double Murderer"

I think he will finally tell the truth - You know he must be racked with guilt.
Otherwise why would he write this?

Exactly - it was tacky for OJ to do it and IMO even tackier for the Goldman's to do it. This is just another example of Goldman's craziness and IMO, love of the limelight at any cost. But, hey, its all in the name of the dollar ain't it

Will people buy this? I think it's way too disturbing for me to read it.

What? No 'it's his story to tell' or anything else that could possibly redeem him from bringing this garbage to the limelight? I must confess I find that shocking, coming from you.

wait...I'm confused. he wrote the book, cancelled it and then the Goldmans got the rights and are going forward with it? that's ****ed up.

I doubt I'll read this, but I will check out highlights.

wrong. I think the Goldmans are hoping that people will buy the book just to make sure the Goldmans get the $$$ they are entitled to.

OJ figured folks would buy it out of morbid curiosity, I think the Goldmans are banking on the sympathy of the public to generate income that OJ cant touch and that the Goldmans deserve.

PS: I'd LOVE to see the "key commentary" myself!

what a sorry sack of crap. i have no desire to read how he might have done it. we saw weeks and weeks of how he did it all during the trial.

did you guys see oj fielding questions on a live call-in type show? one guy asked... "hey oj, here's a question from my son. was it harder to rush 2000 yards in one season or slice two throats in one night?" classic.

So, it is okay for the G's to take the blood money but not OJ's kids, who the money would have gone to if OJ had been allowed to publish it. Blood money is blood money to these eyes.

Also, FG seemingly loves the limelight. I truly feel for this man as his daughter was brutally murdered. But and in kindness, I think it is time to let it go because at this point he seems like an absessed man. Can't say I blame him though.

Anyway, these people are BW's friends - so I am letting this go.

I'm gonna respect that you say you are letting it go, but I just wanted to make one point. I don't see where the love of the limelight is coming from. and it may just be my ignorance since I don't really follow this anymore, but I rarely, if ever, hear about OJ and this whole debacle.

I was truly shocked by this decision. I'm surprised the Browns haven't tried to stop it.

I don't think I can do it. I've read my fair share of trashy novels but this...I don't know.

I did see that. The must have paid him a fat brown paper bag full of cash to do that interview. Then the guy that runs that network was on tv all high and mighty complaining about (allegedly) unscreened phone calls and invoking some kind of journalistic integrity bull****. Ugh.
