Dunno what else there is to say that hasn't been said, other than I don't understand why he wanted to have his funeral at this church in the first place, unless it was his family calling the shots.

After being initially peeved about another bigoted Christian church, my only reaction is "to hell with them." Find another place for the funeral. And I most certainly wouldn't have taken their money...so kudos to the family for that.

Well, and I can argue that I don't know where folks get that "there is a God" belief. On what do you base that? Some book some people wrote a few centuries ago? Many books have been written about what I belief also.

All the great religions of the world revolve around the deity. Is it because you want to believe that the rest of the world is wrong?

Because I don't believe in God my existence on this planet has no meaning? Is that actually what you are saying? Why does there have to be a God to give life meaning? I feel really sorry for you if that is what you believe.

The proof of God is all around you. In conception...in nature...in love. At the risk of sounding New Age, I dont know how you cant look at the beauty that is in the world and feel God.

Because the way I see it, proof of evolution is all around us. I always approach the matter of 'life' very scientifically, and really, life ends when the body dies. Heaven and Hell have only been created to keep people in a constant state of fear. Apparently it works.

I can provide endless documents of scientific proof, and I'll be glad to put that up against your bible, but I for one am not interested in making comparisons or preaching about why one thing is better than the other. Everyone has their own 'bible', whether literally or not, and what's important is that you stand behind what you believe in. Being true to myself makes my life very meaningful, thank you very much.

i agree, but i don't think he was trying to say there is no base for her beliefs in christianity. i think he was trying to say that her beliefs weren't valid at all.

I never said they were invalid...baseless. There is a BIG difference. We're all mincing words. And if you knew me at ALL...an overbearing sense of self worth is the LAST fuc*king thing I've got on my list of traits.
