its been going on since last fall -- to my knowledge, it hasn't really slowed down all that much -- there are several murders that allegedly had no witnesses (which means no one wants to be a snitch cause they'll get shot). there were 7 murders over the weekend -- and no one has an answer -- 3 happened in a crowded west philadelphia (GHETTO TO THE MAXX) bar. they're finally discussing this at 4:18.

i listened to some of live earth, and really, i thought it seemed so.. pre-processed and canned. i didn't catch anything that sounded spontaneous or touching to the crowd or anything. a bit later, i was sitting at the bar, and we were all watching it on tv, talking about the same thing. snooze. so you are enjoying the on-air experience, yes? i'm a bit backwards.. i like working on-air in the studio, but i absolutely despise going to events and talking to people in the flesh. i'm a radio hermit.

Live Earth had it's moments though. The thing with Genesis at that show was that they sounded small. Collins and Genesis have always had a big sound, IMO. Phil stood in front and sang the vocals and then would jump on the drums and play for about a minute. They had another drummer there. They did Invisible Touch (never a favorite of mine) and anemic sounding versions of Land Of Confusion and Turn It On Again. And I don't think it was because their mix was bad. It just seemed like half the band was missing or to borrow a line form Stevie "fell off the stage." |

i loved loved loved being on air -- and i love doing voiceover work. i won't know if it will turn into something more permanent as right now, the budget is iffy. going to events really doesn't bother me all that much...even though you then realize some of the people contributing to your paycheck? are crazier than **** house rats. i've met some really cool people too.

dude, everybody in this industry has some sort of defect. and by defect, i don't mean "normal, every day problem". you have a super voice, and voice over work could be a bitchin' side gig for you. you can cut some demos and post through some different agencies.. then charge people out the ass to read an 8.5 x 11 sheet. you don't have to work for a company to do that. it takes you, what, all of 15 minutes to make the cuts, and rates are like $150 + for however much they can fit on one side of one sheet. smaller stations generally go that route for their liner and show production needs... they don't have the luxury of having the money to hire someone just for that purpose. i used to do voice overs for stations around this area, but not anymore. my voice has just dropped a considerable amount (pitch wise), and i'm not comfortable with it anymore. i'm trying to slip out of the field.. slowly but surely. i think this fall/winter and early spring will be my last, but it is something to fall back on 'cuz it's natural to me.

I agree with you to a point. BUT. Do drugs & alcohol cloud your judgement? Yes. Do drunk/high people do things they wouldn't do if they were sober? Yes. Do drugs & alcohol make people more relaxed & release their inhibitions? Yes. Do drugs & alcohol make you completely incapable of making a decision? NO. I know what you're saying, and I'm sure her being high contributed to her decision to chase someone else's car with her own, but it was her decision. Well thought out? Absolutely not. Taking into account the **** she'd be in if caught? No. But the drungs & booze didn't force her to drive. Plenty of people who are messed up choose not to. That's why it's called "under the influence." and not "under the control of."
