It truly sickens me how some people breed their animals -- brother to sister, son to mother - 10 or 12 litters per bitch - no regard for congenital things like cramp --- then they get dogs with three legs or some other horrible defect and they kill them instantly and keep doing the same types of breeding.

Well one thing I have going for me is that my aunt and uncle will be helping me. LIke I said they are the top Samoyed breeders in the state here and I know they know people that can and will help me.

it's awful, really awful. the pet shop i worked next to was TINY - maybe 20 feet by 60 feet - and they had cages of puppies stacked on top of each other, mini potbelly pigs, fish, rodents, kittens, and all sorts of pet supplies packed into that tiny space. my friend dragged me in there once and i refused to go back.

I wouldn't exactly say that dachshunds are not solitary dogs ... it all depends on the dog's personality. I have 2 dachshunds. The first one we had for 2 years before we got the second one. The first one is very much a loner. The second one has more of the doxie personality that you guys are speaking of .... goes nuts unless someone is around paying attention to him. But I really think it is the individual personality of each dog and not the breed. Dachshunds are great pets, I highly recommend them!!

Dachsunds are so sweet! In general, they love to cuddle.
