That whole show was a great show, she's clearly coked out, but a great show nonetheless. Just to see her run and jump over the monitors in those platforms is worth the price of admission.

I actually have her entire performance on DVD from the US Festival.
Not the best sound quality, but she still rocks!

The quality of this video is ridiculously good compared to the copy I have. Starting with Gypsy, a lot of the time I can't even hear Stevie sing unless her mouth is completely against the microphone, and Sharon's voice is loud as hell. I wish I had a good copy like this, although this seems to be something professionally done for Japan (I'm guessing). I also wonder how 'live' those vocals are...they sound a bit too polished, heh. Great video, thanks for sharing!

Someone left a comment on this video saying that this was not the original vocal performance...

That's probably true. That was done several times for Stevie's shows. If you hear the original Red Rocks vocals you see that they are very different from the video's vocals. This was a common thing.

The whole show was shot professionally. It aired on Showtime back in the day.

I left that comment on youtube actually - it isn't the real vocal - I have the dvd of this show and anyone that has it can clearly tell it's not the vocal

And you can see a couple of times in the video where in the audio she's singing but she's not in the video...
Towards the end after the take me home part and she's staring at the girls while the overdub has singing why don't you take....and she's not even facing the mic.

Sorry to burst the bubble folks :P

The original vocal is worse than this one

She's so dead here. She just stands there. The version I have is the original and it's got a horrible vocal on it.

Well it fooled me...but after that comment I watched it again and noticed where she wasn't singing. I still like the vocals in the video.

I'm not convinced. It looks and sounds real to me. This Korean video looks very cleaned up and pulled from masters. They did clean up the audio and it may not be completely synced properly with video. Her speaking before singing seems like the right audio right from the start.

Someone commented on the video on the YouTube page:
This was the very first live performance of Stand Back. This US Festival Show was 5/30/83, Stand Back was released 5/19/83. The album was not even released yet, which released 6/10/83. So it was not perfected or well rehearsed yet to what you think is better. I think it is a great performance and total Stevie

WOW, hadn't seen the Korean one.
I always liked this concert, because she smiles so much (yes, for the happy powder reason) and I love to see her beautiful smile...
I didn't realize the vocals were re dubbed, I know Red Rocks, they were...
will have to watch again...

I have never heard the original Red Rocks. Are they better or worse than the DVD? I know WWD was tweaked a little but no where NEAR as much as Red Rocks!

I love her smiles too. She's happy for powder but also you can tell she loves playing to so many people. Somewhere along she comments on seeing the "sea of people."
