Is calling Rosie a "cow" an insult to Rosie? or the cow?

I agree... The troops only do what they are told... It's obvious she was insinuating the US government would be considered the terrorists, if you look at it from the Iraqi angle. Her point is if you invade a country and kill their people, what are you called? If some other country invaded the US or any other country, they themselves would be considered the bad guy - or terrorists. And the argument that Sadam was evil and the reason for going in doesn't hold... Yes he killed tons of his own people, and should be stopped, but there are alot of evil rulers of countries... why not invade them too, or why haven't they been invaded before... North Korea comes to mind or pick any number of African countries that have committed crimes against their people. I don't know... To me it seemed like there was an agenda in her last days to discredit her of her views.

I can't help but feel that this is a cop out on some level or another. Children often just do what they're told, good or bad, and are absolved from any kind of responsibility because they don't know any better. I don't think adults have that luxury. And I know I'm oversimplifying it, but I think you are as well.

It's obvious to some. Those who don't understand what she was getting at won't (and didn't) take that from it. I think she was just vague enough to leave it open for misinterpretations, whether she wanted that or not.

Actually she is not vague. She spells out exactly how she feels all the time. On her website, on the View. She has been saying for months that the US is a bully, who invaded another nation. She pointed out that from the Iraqi's viewpoint, we are terrorists. All of us. The US. The government. She could not make her view point any more clear...she has answered direct questions about it for weeks. She also has done quite a bit to help the soldiers and their families, from donating her time, her energy, her money..etc. Her actions speak for themselves but she has always said she loves the troops and just wants them home. If you take one quote, out of context, of course it could fit the Republican agenda and make her look like she is against the troops and believes they are the terrorists.

I feel sorry for her. For someone to be so passionate and so generous, it must really be disheartening to be so misunderstood.

Obviously I don't know about all of that because I can hardly stand to watch the show or her, but yes, her actions and her words, from what you've said here, make her point clearly. In that case, those who took the quote I posted here and knew well what other statements she has made and all that she has done had an agenda and wanted to skew her message. I can't help but feel sorry for her in that case; the media and the obnoxious Republican pundits are trying to ruin her career.

I still think the exchange was really annoying and superfluous and I still think she was being immature (as was Hasslebeck, no doubt). And if Hasslebeck knew the whole story (not just the bit that I watched) then it was that much more absurd for her to say that Rosie was unclear.

Everyone has a right to their opinion, but why make such a big deal over just another entertainer's opinion? So she thinks this or that.... It always bugged me that people give such credence to opinions voiced by those, just because they are famous. I find better informed folks here on the Ledge, yet no one is quoting them. The only thing that is worse is the continual media coverage of the likes of Paris Hilton. Another "who cares" she is just another famous for being famous type. Why not give media attention to "REAL" stories rather than these. and now.....

Oh - Rosie is NOT MISUNDERSTOOD! She has been very clear. It is THE IDIOTS that twist her words and "cherry pick" reality that want her to be misunderstood.

Attention is paid to what the famous say because they have a platform where they can reach millions and millions of people, and have an affect on people on a large scale - unlike us on The Ledge... Those that don't like what she speaks of then have to take her to task and knock her down.. and on... and on... and on.

But WHY are they getting so much media hype? (I know the answer but just find it silly). The average public should not place so much attention on this crap. Who cares if they are famous? Doesn't mean their opinions are any better than most? Yes, I know how the public is, just wish they would wake-up. There is so much more out there worth paying attention too, rather than this. But it will never happen..... We are such silly, stuiped creatures.

LOL, I agree with that. It must suck though, to be constantly misquoted, degraded, insulted, etc.

Elizatwit said today on the View that she was in "'constant" communication with Rosie this weekend and that their 'friendship had begun the process of healing". Rosie says on her blog that Elizabeth actually talked only to Kelli, on the phone. EH did email Rosie and Rosie says she responded but she claims that is the only communication they have had. One back and forth email. Why is EH trying to act like they are patching things up?? Barbara Walters did seem genuinely sad that Rosie was gone.....perhaps she is just sad because she realizes her ratings are going to nose dive.
