I haven't really been "sad" for quite a while...and I try not to dwell on sad times.

I'll take that as a compliment.

Actually, when I do hit a "sad" time, I DON'T listen to music, I MAKE music. Playing guitar is VERY cathartic.

i was kidding, i didn't mean it in a bad way

and i missed the last bit of villavic's post - i don't listen to music that'll make me keep feeling bad, i listen to music that comforts me. thus, patty griffin.

I'm incapable of listening to happy and uplifting music when I'm down...so I do listen to music that totally just "fits" my mood. Sarah McLachlan is good for that, Storms is good....I can't really think of any specifics...it totally depends on the degree of sad

Lots of Cowboy Junkies and Townes Van Zandt. Two of my favorite artists.

Both have really beautiful sad sad songs in their catalogs. In a way, when I listen to them though, they make me feel better. I'm not sure why, but they do.

When I am down, I listen to old Joni Mitchell and Morrissey. For some insane reason, they make me happy -- and I am over whatever it was that initially made me down.

I love the power of music...
