**SPOILER** Opening Night of Crystal Visions Tour

Stevie Nicks says there's only one drawback to having an artist like Chris Isaak open for her on her summer tour. She has to scale back the kind of set she would normally do for fans.

"I'm very happy to have Chris come with us, but I didn't really realize that meant I was going to have to shorten my set," Nicks said in a recent phone interview. "With his hour set and the 30-minute changeover, we won't go on until somewhere between 9:15 and 9:30, and curfews are 11 o'clock, and you'd better be done because if you're not, they'll pull your power."

Cutting three or four songs from what has traditionally been nearly a two-hour set is about the only thing that draws a complaint from Nicks these days. Her life and career have recovered from a period in which there was reason to wonder if Nicks could continue to be a vital force on the music scene. But, as Nicks herself said, her life today is fantastic.

I'm hoping when she dumps Chris in June, she adds a few more songs back into her set. Thats the only hope I have right now.

If you don't travel to Vegas or weren't lucky to be in a city when she toured with Don Henley or Tom Petty you probably have only seen her twice on a solo tour in the last decade. I can remember seeing FM back in the 70's when you were lucky to get 3 or 4 of Stevie's song in a whole concert. Back then you wished you could hear more and would have gladly settled for only hearing Rhiannon, Gold Dust Woman and Landslide. I bet not too many of those in attendance will complain about the setlist. The majority of the crowd is there to hear the exact songs she is playing. During the SYW tour I remember all the fans going to the restroom or talking out loud during Beautiful Child. For the majority, they only want to hear the songs they hear over and over again. They aren't lucky enough to know of the vast number of songs she hasn't recorded or the hidden gems on the albums that only those of us who follow her so closely know about. I'll enjoy the show because over 30 years ago when I saw her for the first time I would never have dreamed I could still see her in concert today.

Your so right about most people yakkin it up during some of the greatest, yet not radio-popular songs. As a big fan, I of course DO want to hear new stuff, but it is what it is. People can either go see her or not. I choose to go.

She HAS been in San Diego since 2001 - during the Gold Dust Tour and then one other time I think.

Actually that is not true. She performed her Gold Dust Tour in San Diego as well. I should know, I was there, my last Stevie show I told myself I would ever see.

She was on fire. She is so oviously having a good time on stage these past few years that the set list doesn't matter much to me. Her vocals have gotten sultrier, sexier. Her playfullness is intoxicating.

See this show jsut to hear her vocals. She will not be doing this much longer, cherish her while we still can.

To those complaining. Take her advice, "take time to smell the roses"

Those who are iffy about going, run don't walk.

She sent me phone pics of the new shirts - hard to see details but there's definitely a black t-shirt with the CD cover photo on it. There's also a red one (I think it's a ladies cut) that says Crystal Visions.

I'm glad you had a great time last night and I'm glad you posted about it. It was pretty gloomy in here last night as you can probably tell. So glad to hear her energy is high and that even tho it's same old same old, Stevie (and you) obviously had fun with it.

Anyway, yes, I got to the stage for the Edge rush, and finally, finally got to shake her little paw and say thank you. It was lovely. And yes, I had a great time

It is the sound of her voice that enchants me more than her songs, anyway, if that makes sense. I mean, obviously there is no voice without songs. But at home I have listened to the same Stevie songs a billion times, for a billion years. Every day. All the time. Because I have to hear her voice.
And so you can see why I, personally, am so delighted that her actual voice sounds so great on the songs. It's so awesome to have her voice completely surround you, so loud.

It sucks bad she didn't do anything with Eye-Sack, though. If there's anything I like better than Stevie's voice, it's Stevie's voice in harmony with someone else's.

Someone else might be able to describe better. For Edge, she put on a full white dress and then had a thin black coat/shawl thingy over it. In the front, it only covered her arms and shoulders (I think), so she was mostly white in front.

In other outfit news, she did not have the Rhiannon wings. For most of the show, she had a black scarf and I believe she had black gloves the entire time.

She was simply gorgeous and looked well rested.

Well, no, actually.

But I would have posted that even if I were well rested. I am not interested in patronizing comments. I'm not telling other people how they should have reacted to the show. I'm posting my experience. The difference between the "complainers" and the Stevie "defenders" is that the complainers focus criticism on Stevie and the defenders focus criticism on the complainers. I do not buy the argument that Stevie should be without criticism because she will be retired soon. As long as she is releasing material and playing concerts, she is subject to criticism.

Anyway, let me stress that I agree 100% with Amber and wolfontherun that the vocals were superb and if you are fine with the setlist, then you will have an incredible experience.

For me, the boring and uninspired set list has eclipsed her vocals. I will smell the roses doing other things......

I don't even know what she is talking about. She did 14 songs last night. She did 15 songs in Gold Dust Tour. And she ended at 10:45, so there was time for one or two more songs before they pulled the plug. She is also welcome to cut the endless pre-Edge percussion/drum solo and the 5 minute intro to Rhiannon.

But I like them! The drums seemed shorter last night.
