Wow, there are just no words to describe this. It makes no SENSE. Is it compulsion, laziness, both something else. Stevie told us there'd be new songs. She never lies like that. Greatly exaturate beyond belief, but never outright lie like this.
Oh Well I'm still excited to see her in Verona. Nver seen IAF or HSML live and like I said it's really more about HOW she performs then WHAT she performs.

Maybe after touring with Tom, she doesn't want to sing it with anyone else anymore.

i have a 2:54 am prediction and it's grim, and though i feel it should be in a new thread, i'm hiding it in here.
I think the promoter is going to pull the plug. i think this tour MIGHT make it to Jones Beach in NY on 6/13, or the tour will be cancelled just before Jones Beach. If not, i'd expect one of the two New Jersey shows (on June 12 and June 15) to be cancelled. Word of mouth about opening night (this thread now has more than 3,000 hits just hours after the concert ended) isn't going to help sluggish sales, TicketMaster have already prominently placed the option to buy 4 lawn seats for less than $80 for many of the dates, which makes me think the promoter is worried. Top price for most markets is $125, and only in Stevie's kind-hearted friend mind is Chris Isaak a 'co-headliner' and not an opening act. I don't think this tour is going to make it. The cd-dvd is falling so fast, radio didn't bite on either 'Rock and Roll' or 'Landslide' and there's just no buzz for a Nicks/Issac bill in this tough economy, what with gas climbing towards $4 a gallon and many venues charging $15 to park ontop of the ticket prices, which are too high for an artist who hasn't had a substantial hit in ages. I just don't think the concert market is ripe for her right now. On opening night, Nicks sang 5 songs (out of 14) that she performed on the last Mac tour, which had trouble with ticket sales on the final leg. She's been the artist i have loved the most, back from my pre-teen years, now into my 40s.. but sadly, she is now an oldies act, due to her choices in how she presents herself on stage with so much of her Fleetwood Mac material overlapping into her solo concerts, that i think there isn't an incentive for fans to pay hundreds of dollars for a pair of tickets to see pretty much the same show, yet again. Maybe the lawn seat plan will help fill these venues, but it seems telling that it's being offered so visibly with the 'orchestra' seating pricing hidden, comparatively. Oldies acts can't fill these 10,000+ seat venues at these prices and i don't think the promoter will be willing to take a financial beating. I don't wish Stevie badly at all, I wish her success, and maybe my 'crystal vision prediction' will be all wet, but as of 3:07 am now, i think this tour is not long for this world... At this point I never put my expectations too high for her doing 'something new' So I was not terribly surprised or disappointed by the set list being the same old one.I will say she looked great ,very fresh and her voice was better than I have heard it since 1998, she hit a high note in Dreams I hadn't heard in years and her Gold Dust Woman yell was impressive .I was concerned how she would sound after seeing some of the recent TV appearances but vocallly she was really on.

Just got back. I agree Stevie looked great, and seemed to be really trying to focus on her vocals.
The only surprise for me was HSML, which was always one of my favorites. They did a pretty good version of the song with Stevie not shying away from the high notes. I'd say she nailed it. Issak played around 75 minutes-too long for me. But they delivered a solid set. As far as the house goes, I'd say it was 2/3 full. The pit, first section and middle of the pavilion were full but the sides were a bit sparse here and there. The lawn seemed pretty full. I'd estimate maybe 8,000 out of a 12,500 seat venue. I didnt expect Stevie to do anything new, but after tonight I have to say I would hesitate to see her again in the future if she rolled out the same show. I did enjoy Landslide, the vocal was beautiful to me, and she showed alot of pics of her dad as she sang. She seemed to be having alot of fun with Rock & Roll and I need to Know. Really, it was a solid set, but that's enough for me. Unil it changes. She came out pretty bundled up, kept the black gloves on all night, and had a scarf on the first few numbers. Again I am glad I went but I finally get the frustration everyone's been feeling. It's not impossible to change, she clearly does not want to. |

First off, Chris Isaak kicks ass. His voice is beautiful, his band is great, he's funny, and hot. I would see him again by himself, were it cheaply enough. He made some great Stockton trailer jokes, too. He's from Stockton, so is my fam. on the mom side.
It was funny and good. That being said, Stevie's vocals on the "same old songs" were incredible. And I'm not talking incredible, like "there was one new part on one song". I'm talking incredible like, tear the house down. She added new cool stuff to GDW, her Fall From Grace practically set my awesome dress on fire, and her HSML was amazing. It was just all different and fresher, vocally. But not just a little, a LOT. Plus, usually I don't like Enchanted live, and this time I did. It was faster. It was like, everything was faster. Her whole singing pace was way better and more dynamic. And like was said before, there was different notes. In fact, everything sounded a bit different and better. And I'm not just saying that. Even Dreams seemed rockin'. It was weird, I was suprised my ownself. Even BATB, which has been spectacular these couple years, but mostly the same - seemed different. It's hard to describe, kinda, but basically all her vocals were better, more dynamic, and either subtly or obviously different. Not different like a whole new song, but different like...well, different. Better, faster, stronger, different emphases. It was weird. And awesome. So, if you are pissed about the setlist, don't go. If you want to hear the setlist infused with fire and more greatness, go.
