You know this is great because, I was thinking the same thing before I even saw your post - to make a CD maxi single of Stand Back edits, mixes an live performances. This is the list I have as of now: Stand Back (radio edit) Stand Back (live) (Dreamer) 83 Stand Back (live) (Red Rocks) 86 Stand Back (live) (The Chain Boxed Set) 87 Stand Back (DiscoTech) (don't recall the exact year this came out but I'm almost certain it was early 90's) Stand Back (House Of Blues) 94 Stand Back (live) (The Dance radio broadcast) 97 Stand Back (live in Boston) 03 Stand Back (live) (iTunes) 07 Stand Back (Hani Remix) - new Stand Back vs. Little Red Corvette - new I figured the single edit (same as the video) is more appropriate for this instead of the album version. As you can see I don't have the 89 and 91 performances on here, not that I wouldn't or won't include them but ... the quality of those didn't seem as good as the other ones. I didn't download the 98 one yet from a Day In the Garden ... is that a good one? What about the one from 01 KFOG ... I remember that one sounding really good ... can someone post that? |

Here you go - these aren't from the soundboard, but overall, not too bad for audience recordings....

I would kill to listen to the Oakland version again, as I was in the audience. But everytime I try to download something from sendspace, I am unable to do it. Am I correct that I need to pay for a membership or am I doing something wrong. Anyone can help out an old man?

^^yeah, once we figure you out.
Wow, the Oakland version takes me waaaaaay back. I love it. It's before she went all manic on the song. Which I also love, but this is more pure. I can't believe she will open with this song on Thursday.....how can you open with the climax? |

LOL! That reminds me of that live version of I Can't Wait where she goes "Sometimes she wakes up and sometimes well she's only dreaming... then when she really wakes up somehow well she still believes him". Nice recovery. I used to sing with a band and I'll tell ya, it's not hard to recover after a mess up like that.

Normally, she sings, "one man said he would not fall/but he asked me for too much/but he asked me for too much/he said take me," then she hits the chorus. This time, she sings, "one man said he called my name/he said... maybe, maybe. yeah." The other classic flub of "Stand Back" I know of is when she had that infamous Santa Barbara show when she was really feeling her bronchitis. Instead of singing, "no man said he called my name/you know no man came," she sang, "one man said he would not fall, but he asked me for too much, he said take me," THEN she finished the rest of the verse. ![]() I've listened to WAAAAAY too many live versions of "Stand Back." Then again, I find the studio version/radio edit/video version pretty much unlistenable these days.
