Default If I Were You

I just want to let you guys know that this has to be one of my favorite Stevie songs. And it is my favorite track off of Rock A Little. I love the lyrics to this song and I love her vocals on it. And it has that awesome '80s sound to it.

What are your thoughts on this song?

I love this song! One of the best on Rock A Little, it should have been a single.

The whole Rock a Little album is amazing, and this song is one of the tops. It's very nice.

I think it would have been a great pick for the 3rd single (HAEWAFY just wasn't a great choice to follow up a rocker like ICW). Pure 80s pop delight.

If I Were You is my favorite song off of Rock a Little. I love the lyrics and I love the vocal.

The best part:
"Well I believe that love is a living thing
Born into our destinies
From a single moment of inspiration
And as it grows it changes our lives forever...forever"

Are you aware that that part is exactly the portion that Stevie wrote? Rick Nowels wrote the rest of it. It would be funny if you picked that as your favorite part without knowing.

Best song on the album...should have been a video (they were HUGE then) and could have been a hit. Strange, weird time for Stevie.

Hate to be the only one going against the grain, but I HATE this song. I think it's possibly the worst on Rock a Little along with I Sing for the Things and Sister Honey, oh yeah and Talk To Me but I think in the end, If I Were You is my least favorite.

But since I can't just be negative in this post, I'll say that I LOVE the title track, the erie mood and vocals that I don't think were ever heard outside that song are just incredible. And despite not being a big fan of the synths there's just no denying the greatness of I Can't Wait, what an explosive song.

Love it! It has great energy. And I like that part she sings as the song fades out. Sounds like it may have been a Stevie ad-lib.

When the songs starts, it reminds me of a door bell in a 1970's house. Or a game show theme song. I love Sister Honey and all of it's funk. But If I Were You makes me wince a little now. Not sure if it's stood the test of time.

If I Were You, I'd think about listening to some new music. Like the new Wilco album!
