I hope it doesn't take her another two years to release this one NO song.

Also, I think she made it pretty clear that she is not writing for a new album. She even clarified.

Well frankly if that's all that inspires her - then it's probably time to move on from it. Clearly that inspirational well has dried up there along with everything else in Phoenix!

No, she made it clear that she is not writing just because she wants to do a new album, she said she is writing because she always writes. She didn't say anything about not actually doing a new album.

She didn't implicitly say so, but I don't think she's in any hurry to record a new album. I think her priorities in life have just changed. It's not so important to release a CD of new material. I've been looking at TISL as her swan song album for a while now. Not to say she won't ever release a new album, but I'm not expecting one in this decade.

Actually, in classic Stevie fashion, she was completely unclear. This is what she said:

Have you started writing material for a new album?

I have. It's not like I'm writing new material for a new album; I'm just writing because I always write.

First she said she is writing material for a new album. In the next sentence she is cagey. I don't think anyone should try to extract anything from what she said, just like I don't think anyone should ever try to extract anything from what she says.

All we know is that she has one song that she thinks is worth recording and that we shouldn't expect to hear it until after her CV tour.

I think it will arrive in late 2008 or 2009. And then if it won't I'll start hoping for the next decade.
