The other point that was well made is that here it's our government who fleece us, and over there in the US it's the oil companies.
well, as to your latter point, I definitely agree: the oil companies are fleecing us and they need to be held accountable.

i am literally at a loss. their pounds are worth more but they make fewer pounds than we make in dollars.

This wins the prize for the most ludicrous, warped, and thoroughly inaccurate statement I've ever seen on the internet

Okay, I want the last 15 minutes I spent reading this thread back.

Mary, seriously, you've gone off the deep end here babe. It all comes down to simple math. If you calculate all the different currencies back to one single currency and then see how much gas people can buy based on their yearly income it's NOT hard to reach the conclusion that people in the UK can buy a lot LESS. I don't get what's so hard to understand about that.

(Oh, and many people have already researched the differences between median household incomes and really, Europe averages below the United States.)

Vanessa 'pays way too freakin' much for gas also' G.

If someone earns $40,000 a year for doing a certain job in the US, do you think that people here earn £40,000 for the same job?

I never said Europe didnt pay exorbitant gas prices. but I dont think you can actually compare dollars to Euros or Pounds and then act like the price at the pump per Pound versus the price at the pump per Dollar is all that different.

You guys are comparing WAGES and I am NOT. I am saying the price at the pump is NOT the same, if you take into account the difference between dollars and pounds.

nobody's doing that - we've helpfully converted all comparisons into US dollars for you

We've noticed. If you refuse to compare wages, what the hell do you think we over here are buying our fuel WITH?

o.k. just like jazzy couldn't accept defeat when I couldn't get my desktop on the thread...(which I never did LOL) i can't let this go.

alright.

let's say..for the sake of argument (HA) and for the sake of...EASE....

we are switching EVERYONE'S currency to dollars.

o.k.. so. The great people in the UK get to switch their pounds to dollars. you make $10 dollars an hour. Bretonbanquet makes 16 pounds an hour for the same exact job. so when he switches his currency to dollars, he only gets 8 poor thing.

anyway. So. you're making 10. he's making 8. all currency is the same . are you with me? we've already converted it.

SO NOW. we pay 3 dollars a gallon for gas. and they still pay 7.20. but you're making ten and he's making 8.

Is this making any sense? is there any part of this you don't get or don't agree with?
