Rumor on In Concert

Hey, I don't know if I posted this before or not, I doubt it since I heard it a long time ago (I believe I was still in high school). The radio station played a Stevie song, can't remember which, but then afterward were talking about the HBO Special they did in '81. They were saying, you know Stevie goes into the back after Edge of 17 and the camera follows her to the mirror, but then it moves off Stevie to a chair and then eventually to the floor (when you see someone swipe the Snoopy stuffed animal), that the cameras did that because Stevie was taking a hit of cocaine at the moment and the cameras couldn't show that. Whether it's true or not, I don't know, but I thought it was pretty interesting.

I've never heard that...but i would not be surprised...it's not like she was the only person who did coke..everyone did mounds of it back then..

You know, I always just assumed that the camera panned down to the floor at that moment, in case Stevie might change part of her outfit.

I figured the cameraman, for the sake of Stevie's modesty, "looked away."

I *think* if Stevie was going to take a hit of cocaine in the dressing room, that she wouldn't have even allowed the cameras in there (or her managers, et al., wouldnt have allowed that).

I could be wrong though!

Isn't that the part where the camera man moved out of the way so that Stevie's girls could help her put a veil or something on the back of her hair for Rhiannon. So, it wasn't cocaine. The camera man just had to get out of the way. I think also in that scene one of the girls is blow drying Stevie's hair and then she is trying to get a pin in her hair.

HA! I thought the same thing Johnny!

You know how there's that part (I think it's right after the camera is on the ground) where you can see one of the roadies (or whoever he is) standing in the back trying to look in and then it must be his boss yells "OUTSIDE NOW!" or something like that and he's like "OK, I'm going, I'm going". It stood to reason for me that he was "perving in", trying to get a glimse of Stevie naked or whatever and was upset that he was told to "get out". I think you're right about that if it was a coke thing, they probably wouldn't have allowed the camera anywhere near the area in case they got a shot of it by mistake (like through a mirror or something) but aw who knows?!

I suppose the same could be said for if she WAS getting changed they probably wouldn't have let cameras in for the same reasons. Hmm...

i never thought about that coke reference...even if she did coke and the camera happened to pick it up they would have just edited it out.

I don't know how many people have seen the FM Largo 1979 concert bootleg but Stevie's got her finger to her nose several times during the show as if to stop it from running (from the coke i'm assuming)...or maybe she her nose was burning a little. It's evident during "The Chain" and "Angel".

The guy told to go looks like Greg Thomason (Christi's ex-husband), & the off-camera barking voice sounds like Mr. Courage.

I saw that, too! I wondered what it was. Maybe she had a cold. Christine says later how hot & humid it is, so maybe that's it.
