Hurt her feelings? I don't think so.
I got that it was 1982, and people were partying it up! Stevie was clearly having a good time... It's no secret that she was using drugs (reference Sorcerer video) and being a rock star...

CV makes me both happy and sad; on one hand the new recordings sounds great, at last i can see those videos at their quality, the commentary and the bella donna documentary are a real treat, and the whole thing is packaged very nicely. but all this comes to remind me (as if i needed a reminder...) of how potent this lady still is.
i'm now so incredibly bored from all this worthless and endless recycling that i just wanna scream, it's not real food, that's just microwaved crumbs, and i'm hungry. very hungry. i haven't eaten for years, and by now i'm really starving for something new.

I haven't seen the whole DVD yet, so I'll just comment on the CD. I have all the songs on this CD already on my iPod Stevie iMix Playlist except these songs which I've never heard before:

Dreams (with Deep Dish) - I'm not sure who "Deep Dish" is, but I'm not too crazy about this disco version & I like most disco. Just doesn't do it for me, Dog.

Rhiannon (Live) - Never heard this version before & I'm not really that crazy about it. I prefer the live version of this song on The Dance. This is on my iPod.

Landslide (Live w/the Melbourne Symphony) - I'm kind of on the fence about this version. I don't really hate it & I can't say I really like it either. Guess I'm neutral.

Again, I sort of like The Dance version better; "Thank you Lindsey, thank you Stevie".

Rock & Roll (Live) - I believe I have heard her do this song live at a concert somewhere, & I really like it. Stevie can rock.

Edge of Seventeen (Live w/the Melbourne Symphony) - I was a little concerned when I first started listening. I mean it's a rock song. How can she pull it off singing it with a symphony? She's does pull it off. I really like it.

I just received my copy about 15 minutes ago (Waited til I finished playing the Morbid Angel "Covenant" disc I also received today) and the packaging is cool (About the fourth digi-pack I have received recently with the slip for the book in the middle).

Reading through the liner notes and Stevie's mentioning of Led Zep's Robert Plant...I remember an ol' thread for several years ago where ledgies were asked who would be a not obvious choice to sing with Stevie and I remember my choice as Robert Plant.

I'm listening to the CD and so far it sounds I hear a few differences in the mixes used, maybe it's just my ears but something is there (I mean that in a positive way) - "If Anyone Falls" definately sounds different to my ears. "Stand back" sounds very flat to me, the version on "Timespace" is more rockin'.

Will watch the DVD later this evening.

Oh, btw, the artwork on the labels of the DVD/CD is MUCH BETTER than the one used for the promo DVD

I still can't understand why she is choosing to rest on her laurels and become an oldies act.She has always said songwriting is her first love and lamented the lost years of creativity during the Klonopin addiction.There is so much she could be doing creatively and so many artists that would love to work with her .I can't begrudge her wishing to reitire if that was it ,but clearly she is not doing that and her reasoning that she won't get played on top 40 radio now which is terrible these days anyway rings very hollow.Her much mentioned (by her)buddies Petty and Dylan just put out commercial and critical hit albums with no top 40 airplay so why can't she follow their lead?

I don't have time to look for the interview, but it was done in the last year or two - she mentions that she's not interested in doing anything new on stage, and will keep trotting out the old faithful songs - she brought up the Top 40 "reason".
When I read those words from her, it was the moment I lost a lot of interest and respect for her. When an artist like Stevie gives up creating because of a lack of radio play, I don't get it. She needs to just retire if that's how she feels. I saw her during her first round in Vegas, and she seems to be phoning it in - the passion and excitement she used to have is gone.

She's brought up the situation with radio play in a number of interviews and how hard it is to get something played on the radio, which it is for anyone over the age of 25!

I Do recall this interview where she stated "Do people really want to hear a whole other solo record, when you can get one or two songs for I-Tunes? I'm thinking about a way you could just put out a few songs once in a while, maybe four songs that you loved, instead of having to figure out 16 songs, many of which you might not love."

HI guys - haven't been around in a while but - I just got my copy in the mail and -

I am loving this DVD SOOOOOO much.

I think Stevie's SO funny in it and I also feel that I learned a lot from her at the same time. I could go on and on about it but I think it's great!

So far my favorite is the commentary for the "Rooms on Fire" video.

I concur .I'd rather see her retire than become some kind of an oldies act with an ever diminishing audience of boomers showing up to see the same songs year after year.I'm still in love with the old Stevie ..the one that can be seen in the making of Bella Donna on the DVD that is why I stick around and hope that she has a change of heart.

i think you should make the distinction between stevie THE STAR and stevie THE ARTIST, i think she's ridiculously captured in her own self image of stardom, and it's just so lame... i mean, who gives a **** about the charts and radio airplay? who the hell are you? britney spears? who gives a ****? you've been through this race, and won it big time, what do you need to prove? that's just stupid. not that it's bad to have a hit album, but it's not the main issue, do you think bob dylan wakes up wondering what's his position on billboard this morning? i highly doubt it, it's more likely that he thinks about how he can make his next album better.
i think CV is the finest example for all that; the live edge of 17 is ten times better than the original one which opens the album, but the irony is that today she won't be bothering writing a new stand back, coz she's not able to make a hit single out of it.

I agree with you. One look at some of the world's most creative artists - they NEED to create. They don't care about hits or radio play. Stevie has a well established fan base, who desperately wants new stuff, and that passion to continue. All we really get (certainly in live performance) is yet another Stand Back, which sounds the same as the version she's trotted out the last 10 years (or more). I truly wish she would tap into her creative spirit again.
Either that, or polish up some of the demos we have in our collections (not over produce them!) and give us a collection of her songs, perhaps presented in another way - acoustically, stripped down, the way she always said that if we were to hear them like that, we'd be moved.
