ok, i thought you just wanted cardio ideas so you could gain more energy, etc. but if we're talking about putting on weight & muscle, i would suggest increasing your caloric intake, especially from lean protein, like chicken, turkey, and eggs. also, there are good protein shakes out there. then i would invest in some weights and get a book on lifting.

I do want to maintain more energy - and I like your ideas

I have a very fast matabolism - I have barely put on weight since I was 15. I eat like a pig all day, and never put on an ounce. Weights seem to just make me leaner - as I am already all muscle, there is nothing to work with. I guess its just a case of building my muscle. But that, I have no idea how to do...

I have been looking into protein shakes - but Im worried that they might screw up my matabolism

do you have a nutritionist? i know a lot about nutrition for people who want to lose weight, but not a lot for people who want to gain weight. what little i know i picked up from watching my brother. he used to be incredibly skinny, but he started watching what he ate and really working out hard and he is so buff now.

I did have a nutritionist - but she didn't know ****

I do want to get more buff - but not too buff. I guess maybe I need to join a gym and work with a personal trainer...

good job, jimmy! be careful!
this what I do on my cardio days. I walk at about 3.0 for 2 minutes and then I start a routine of running for 2 mins at 6.0 and walking for 2 minutes at 4.0 for at least 32 mins.

I am working so hard to lose these last 10 pounds and it's so hard. I've been fluctuating the past 2 weeks. I've been really strict with my diet this week, but I'm not seeing any results just yet.

good for you Jimmy. keep it up and if you stick with it, you'll see results. you just gotta stick to it and not waver.

child I know! it's really easy to slip and eat fast food or skip a day working out and then, before you know it, you're a week out and haven't been watching what you eat and have gained 5 lbs.

See? This is the kind of nuance I miss when I have too much work to do! But yeah, I have heard something like it before but I thought the 3x the body weight was significant enough to note. Apparently twice. Also, I know that you know it all but some others don't!

Anyway, I feel pretty good. It's weird - I've never really *wanted* to exercise before, but I'm actually finding myself looking forward to it. I would sooo love to be down to 145 by my birthday (July 4). I just want to be able to fit into more than 10% of the clothes that I own!
Congrats! Every little bit helps.

Yup, it's a bitch. You've done so well, Jaz, you should be really proud of yourself.

Well, week two of my stricter plan, and I'm down another 1.5 pounds - that's 5 pounds in 2 weeks, and a grand total of 11.5 pounds lost over the past.......oh, I don't know, year? I actually thought I had lost more this past week, but it's cool, I'll take it. The other day, I was laying on my side & I went to rest my hand on my hip fat - only it wasn't there. Just hip bone. I don't know when it happened, but my fat lump is greatly diminished. I almost cried, I was so happy. I credit the kickass eliptical workouts & re-focus on squats.

Theresa - you'll be thrilled to know that I didn't even use all of my weekly allowance points this week! Of course, today's day 7, and it is Friday, which usually means drinking. So I make no promises that those 14 extra points will still be there in the morning.

I expect the arrival of my Ebay purchased Core Secrets crap any day now. Hopefully I haven't been doing all of the exercises wrong - I guess I'll find out soon enough. I am def. getting a new bike for my birthday, so there's another cardio method for me. Dance Dance Revolution is way fun, but I need to go out & get a memory card so I can save my games & use the points to "buy" more songs. There's only so many times I can dance to Since U Been Gone.

Excellent and I meant to congratulate you on your "food journal" When I was at my WW meeting the other morning, they had a **** load of "food journal" pamphlets sitting on the counter and I thought, "****, I need to steal a pile of those for Paula, to give to her when she comes up next month

^ Good for you, Justin! And I know what you mean about the "movie food." When you don't eat greasy/sugary/processed food for a while, it can make you feel sick when you eat stuff like that again. Which I guess is good.

Why wouldn't the Japanese restaurant serve you?

I am quite proud of myself. I knew I could do it. knowing that I only have 10 lbs or so to lose is amazing. I'll be back where I was in college. and I just realized that I've lost close to 40 lbs. I had no idea really that I had that much to lose.

my ass is always tight. just ask...well, nevermind. but yeah, that's another challenge. keeping everything sucked in and tight and pulled up while trying to walk at 4.0 - sheesh, I'm exhausted just typing that.

thanks for the links!!!

It is such an amazingly beautiful day here today so I said f**k the gym and I cleaned off my bike and went for a nice long ride...well first I had to walk it to a nearby gas station to put air in the tires...but I'm glad that being under a mountain of snow all winter didn't do any damage....

There was some small rusting - but it was surface and CLR took it all right off with minimal effort - so I'm please I did not ruin my bike....

I have decided that now that the weather is getting nice I will do at least one (hopefully more) fun exercise thing a week, like bike ride or rollerblade. Hopefully that will help with gym fatigue and I can look forward to doing more outdoors. And hopefully soon someone will find my buns on their front lawn Anyone seen those commercials? They're awful...I hate them actually.
