I keep paying the big bucks because I love to see Stevie perform. I disagree with your assesment of her voice. I guess that makes me a fool in your eyes. So be it. I'm enjoying myself and think it was worth the money. I understand your disappointment, but I'm not sure there's a need to make insulting judgments on other fans as a result. JMHO.

Sorry, I found this hilarious.

I don't think T meant that she thinks Stevie literally can't sing - she's coming up with reasons why she won't change the setlist. In other words - these are the only reasons why Theresa thinks would/should stop her from doing so. I know it's hard to understand her, she is Canadian after all.

Oh, yeah, that would shut everyone up, no doubt. I mean, yeah, she put in two different songs for the previous tour - Circle Dance and Rock'n'Roll - but that doesn't count because they were covers. What we'd all certainly be satisfied with is two new songs of her own.... but they should be newer than 1981 because she has too much Belladonna... well, unless it's songs like Sorcerer or Fall from Grace... those aren't hits and should be dropped... oh wait, hits are for the masses not the hardcores, I forgot, Stevie needs to show us more appreciation... Oh wait, she has to get a new wardrobe too, and then we'd all shut up undoubtedly... unless the outfit is black, because otherwise it doesn't count. Oh wait, she needs to lose weight too, and THEN we'd all shut up.

Forget it.

In the words of the immortal Ricky Nelson, "You can't please everyone, so you gotta please yourself." Apparently she is. People have every right to be disappointed and to express that, but to claim that doing two "new" songs would shut up everyone in a nanosecond... come on!

Thanks for the explanation - feel free to volunteer justification for the fool comment, too. As Tower noted, I didn't like it too much. I just don't have his patience to bear such things... he's always demonstrating how well he takes criticism here on the Ledge.

It certainly would quiet a few

In the end, the vasst majority of the people at her shows do not know the setlist or that it is stale. They also likely are the ones that take a piss during Fall Fron Grace because they do not want to miss Dreams. That does not make them bad people.

Good God. Who pissed in your Cheerios, Nancy? Theresa & I were both with you 2 years ago defending the setlist, the lack of promised costume changes, etc. I know what you're saying. But you're seriously going to argue with peoples' disappointments & sarcastic comments? You come on. Of course we're disappointed - surprised, no. Disappointed yes!

I will explain it. Theresa feels like a fool for continuing to spend money for the same show over & over again.

If Stevie did Alice on this tour, I would shut up permanantly with my complaints. But thats just me.

IM SO GLAD OTR is gone. That one was so run into the ground. I hope this isn't what Waddy meant when he said "We're thinking of mixing it up."

Its just depressing when you know she has so many better songs to do on stage than Enchanted.

Great reference, but I believe it was a chocolate cream pie.

Look, I can tell you people are all really upset about this. I think you need to sit down calmly, take a stress pill, and think things over.

This is disappointing but expected. I love Stevie and appreciate the fact that she is still on the road singing great and looking great, but I'm afraid even I have reached the limits of my patience with her. I'm afraid I'm going to sit out her upcoming solo dates, although I may attend one of the dates with Eye Sack. At this point, I think I would rather see Stevie retire once-and-for-all, rather than continue this downward spiral into tedium and obsolescence. Maybe it is time for her to pull a Joni Mitchell: retire from music, do artwork and pursue other causes, and then come back when she is inspired again to write, record and create music simply for the pleasure of creating music. Mama is clearly burned out and is resting on her laurels.

I used to think that if the online fan community could get together and sign a "Dear Stevie" letter outlining our sorrow with her stale setlists and lack of new songs, she would somehow be awoken from her fog and realize that she doesn't have to be a hits jukebox all the time, and that it's okay to try something new and fail sometimes. Now I don't think it would make any difference. Mama is on autopilot because she can get away with it. She doesn't give a sh*t about the audience, other than their ability to buy a ticket. In her own words, "This isn't about art..."

Good Lord -- might I suggest going to the gym and hitting on the punching bag for an hour to vent this frustration, which I think comes from your internal and unadmitted frustration at the unaltered, same old tired set list

[QUOTE=HejiraNYC;667524] . . . She doesn't give a sh*t about the audience, other than their ability to buy a ticket.

Actually, if the vast majority of the people there are there for the hits, then your statement is false because she is giving the vast majority of the people what they want

I will never forget one of the TISL shows I went to and many people were horrified and upset that Landslide was not in the set. A few of them were cursing her. I was elated because it meant room for one more TISL song. I was clearly in the minority.

In the end, she has too many hits. A fate I wish I could suffer.

I guess I did come off pissy! I didn't mean to sound VERY upset; just annoyed. I know I'm not the only one who can get carried away in replies around here. What a way to get back on the Ledge, eh?

P.S. But I was always careful to say I didn't mean people shouldn't express disappointment!

Yup. I forgot there was even a show last night.
