Default Why a solo tour instead of a 40th anniversary tour with Fleetwood Mac????

Seeing that this year is the 40th anniversary of Fleetwood Mac and 30th of rumours it would make more sense (and $$$$) to do a big reunion of the mac with either past members or a set list that would include much older songs that the band has not played in years..if ever. Or maybe just a one night only reunion with past members on pay-per-view. I think alot of people would be willing to pay alot of money to see that. I'm all for a stevie solo tour any year but i think that this year is a little more important than most to fleetwood mac, to stevie, and most importantly to the fans.

What do you guys think??? am i wrong?

It's the 30th of Rumours.

Actually... Personally, I think FM should stay on the shelf for a little longer and let these two do their thing until next year or even the year after (if Lindsey is going to tour again in 2008). Somehow it just feels too soon to bring FM back especially if there is no new material... Maybe by that time Buckingham Nicks will have been considered the new material to release and they could get out and back that up with a tour... That would be something to look forward to moreso then a FM tour, IMO.

Exactly Buckingham Nicks would be a smart thing to release...then tour with FM. Linds is doing exactly what he wants to do and I am sure the other band members are supportive. Stevie is expected to tour for her 'Best Of' anyway...

Personally, I think FM should have gotten back together and done something this year. Years that end in a 7 always seem to be great years for them, commercially anyway.

1967: Formation of Fleetwood Mac
1977: Rumours
1987: Tango in the Night, huge success especially in Europe (is Tango still their second best selling album?)
1997: Reunion with The Dance

They're missing the boat!

Fleetwood Mac should've taken precedence over their solo work this year. Or, Lindsey & Stevie should just quit the band outright and let Fleetwood Mac carry on with people who respect the band's history & legacy...because it definitely isn't Lindsey & Stevie.

They don't respect the band's history because why? Because they dare to do solo projects? Mick's not exactly sitting on his ass doing nothing right now either, you know.

And I never saw 1987 as a good year for them anyway. The years ending in 7 is/was a fluke.

I would rather see Stevie tour this year... and I would like for Lindsey to get off his acoustic kick, release the "rock" album, and tour with army of guitars like he did in '92-'93.

FM will tour again... but it might be '09 or so...

I didn't realize stevie was the entire hold up for a fm tour

and would stevie/lindsey have to quit the band for someone more "respectful" to continue the legacy?? I mean, if they could find someone and be successful on tour, what is stopping them while S & L are off doing their solo stuff....

Well, of course he is still hocking the wine. But I meant his tour with The Mick Fleetwood Band.

At this point in their careers, I honestly don't think Mick & John want to work under the "Fleetwood Mac" name without Lindsey and Stevie.
There was a time when it was important to them to keep the name going (well, at least to Mick), but I no longer get the impression, from comments in various interviews, that they feel an urgent, pressing need.

I'm sure they're all happy to just do their own thing for a while.
