Does it sound okay on the internet? I'm listening to the radio - attorneys just went to lunch so I've got it kinda loud.

It actually wasn't Emmylou with her but it was a nice short lunchtime (in Texas) concert.

i'm glad emmylou wasn't there, because missing both of them would have been overwhelmingly tragic. but i still wish i could've caught patty. glad (but not surprised) it was enjoyable!

Paula, don’t read any further if you don’t want to know the set list.

Saw Patty last night in San Diego. I’ve been to over 200 concerts in my life and this has to rank in the top 10. I’m not sure she was prepared for the reception she received. She mentioned more than once that she would need to come back to San Diego very soon. I don’t know when she was here last but it was too long ago whenever it was. This was my first time seeing her and, I have to tell you, to get this kind of show sitting 12 rows back center for $17.00 was highway robbery on my part.

She was backed by a four piece band. 2 guitarists, a drummer/percussionist, and a sweet young lady who did harmony vocals and played the cello and stand up bass. The best part was the audience was so appreciative you could hear a pin drop during the ballads and everyone waited until the last note to applaud. That got deafening at times and you could tell she was overwhelmed with all the adulation.

Here is the set list. Go see her when she comes near your town. You will never regret it. The songs aren’t in exact order and I’m sure I’m missing a few. The highlights were many but the standouts for me were Trapeze, Heavenly Day (who knew this was a love story about her dog?), No Bad News, and Useless Desires. There wasn’t one bad song and she gave it all to each of them. I got the impression she added some songs because the crowd was so good to her.

Get Yourself Another Fool (Sam Cooke cover)
Stay on the Ride
Trapeze
Burgundy Shoes
You Never Get What You Want
Heavenly Day
Up to the Mountain (MLK)
Be Careful
Goodbye
Love Throw A Line
Useless Desires
Don’t Come Easy
No Bad News
Top of the World

Encores:

Sweet Lorraine
Let Him Fly
Getting Ready

^What, no jackass screaming "sing to me Patty!" during quiet, emotionally moving moments? I wish she was coming close to me. I keep checking for new dates, but still nothing around here.

Sounds like a great show, terry. Thanks for the info.

I promise this is the last time I will dig this thread up (at least until something else good comes along )

Saw this on the Patty Griffin message board. You can listen to the NPR performance on March 2. I don't know how to capture it but the poster did and will be posting links at a later time. Until then, enjoy...

Sonofabitch. Hard to pass up, but I'd have to go right from work, then right back home that night. Plus, nobody to go with.
