Yes, and I pointed out that Subway's value meal is cheaper than the typical McD's value meal. So no, NOT always.

Very true. And I do LOOOOVE me some Subway.

But then Subway doesn't offer burgers and fries... so if you happen to be in the mood for those, but don't have time to make a lean burger, where do you go?

Not being contrary, I'm just honestly asking.

and, hello - an apple or some other fruit is like $0.50 to a dollar.

Moreover, my local grocer sells packs of pre cooked chicken tits for $8.00 for a package of eight. So, for like $2.00 you could have a tit and some veg. or fruit.

And, admittedly, you probably never will have problems with sodium, because you do watch what you eat now... as opposed to down the road when it might already be too late to stop certain health problems.

For all my stubborness, I do give a lot of credit to people who eat right. In fact, I wish I had the willpower to be a vegetarian.
In all other areas of my life, I'm extremely mindful of the healthier choices (I drink ONLY water 95% of the time), but when it comes to food.... *oink*

And, you can toss a friggin veggie burger or turk burger in the micro for a minute and slather it must, ketch, tomatoes, lettuce, non fat mayo, pickles, etc. Who the hell can tell the diff with all that on it? It takes all of 3 minutes to make that. I mean, in my 10-12 hour workdays I manage it.

I eat two of those bresteses with brocolli every day for lunch (about $2.50 a day). It saves me like $50 a week in luch costs and is better tasting then anything they sell around here.

In the time that it takes to drive to McD's, order the burger, pay for it, check your order to be sure they didn't F it up & drive back home, you could throw a 93% lean patty on the George Forman grill, slap it on a bun, toss on some cheese & you're done. Really. Will it take a bit more effort & planning on my part? Sure. But it's not impossible.

If you really want McD's, then buy a Happy Meal - not the Double Big Mac Value Meal. Or go to Wendy's - at least they throw some lettuce & tomato on even their basic burger.

Which is what I usually get.

Let me stress that I only do that once a month. Because sometimes I'm plain hungry for McDonald's and not the burgers that I make at home.

You can put a bunch of crap in a salad - tomatoes, black beans, chick peas, carrots, olives, some cheese, sunflower seeds, chunks of chicken, etc. Also, those fake chicken patties, with a big assed bowl of steamed vegetables and about 16 ounces of water oughta keep anyone's trap shut for 3-4 hours.

This stuff isn't impossible. About the best lunch I have is half a can of black beans with salsa and garlic tossed in, plus a tuna sandwich. Tuna has fat free mayo and spices in it. ****loads of protein, about 400 calories. I'm stuffed for 3 hours easy. I drink at least 2 glasses of water so the whole mess swells up and I am totally full. It's delicious. About my favorite meal ever.
wow, i'm totally going to do that black beans & salsa thing. that sounds awesome.

being in the mood for a burger doesn't mean you have to have one.

That's the thing. There are hamburgers and there are McDonalds hamburgers. They're different. McDonalds burgers taste different from anything else.

I say if you're craving one that bad - just have one! I have a Quarter Pounder with Cheese when I crave one, just not once a week anymore! It's all about moderation...but I'm relatively sure that I will not, on my death bed, think "I should not have eaten that Quarter Pounder" so meh..I eat one once in a while...

What do you mean? What language is that?

hehehe. I wish I liked beans more. I especially don't care for black beans. But pinto beans are most nutritious, and those are okay. The only bean I really, really like, is lentil.

Isn't that fascinating?

Really? Black beans taste so bitter to me. And lentil soup with veggies is...well...it's like an awesome stew...
You're so weird and wrong, Carrie! Wrong!!!

I know, when I have extra grocery money, I'm like...
I buy, like...extra tea, and weird crap I don't usually get to try.
You know what tried the other day that was soooo good? Ginger lime drink. They make it hot at whole foods coffee counter. Strong and delish.
