You've got to tell him to keep up, that they're now calling him FedEx. Anyway, I just wanted to say that while the disintegration of the marriage and having two children in quick succession certainly took it's toll on her, these problems do not stem from that alone. These are the just the events that brought them to the forefront, IMO.

I feel bad for Brit. Yeah, she's dumb. Obviously. And troubled. If she dropped dead like ANS, there'd be a thread here talking about how sad the whole thing was.

Pity killing photographers isn't legal. I would have paid good money to see her gun down a row of those motherf*ucker paparazzi that chase her everywhere she goes. They'd deserve it. I've been on set with her and it defies description. She's stalked like an animal. Each one of them oughta got one of those umbrellas up their keister. I suppose she doesn't have to make such a spectacle of herself and go out so much, but for god's sake she is truly under seige. She cannot live anything remotely resembling a normal life. Anyone would snap under those conditions. Even without the rest of her ****, anyone would snap. I'd be up on murder charges if I were in her position, no doubt about it. There'd be a pile up of bload soaked paparazzi SUVs on the PCH the likes of which has never been imagined.

So there.

ITA. I am and have never been a fan of Britney, but watching the umbrella stuff, seeing the footage out there of her recent days was heartbreaking.
And I felt like an asshole for even watching it.

while I do agree, I have no sympathy for celebrities in that respect. maybe with Britney it's a little different since she's been doing this since she was little, but it's the life you choose. paparazzi comes with the territory. I can't stand the whole "just leave me alone" bit...you want to be famous, this is the price that you pay.

look at Christina and Justin...they've managed. while Christina has had her fair share of fashion dont's, both she and Justin seem to have a handle on their "world" -

I wouldn't say to have people feeling the right to know everything (and eventually laugh) about a celebrity's most intimate problems it's the same thing that criticize someone for the way they dress.

Woody Allen is right, gossip is the new pornography.

While I agree that celebrity comes with papparazzi etc - I also think there is a limit. I mean this girl can't take a piss without tons of photogs hounding her - that's over the line.

I don't think Justin and Christina have the papparazzi following Britney does...not to that level anyway...it seems they're really really hounding her...maybe I'm wrong - and again, I know it comes with the territory but there's gotta be a limit. People need some level privacy otherwise they begin to crack - as she is.

no speed limit, this is the fast lane.

Britney is hounded because that's the card she has played. she's been a media darling and used media to create the megastar she is. you can't just turn it on and turn it off like that. Christina and Justin apparently understand how to use the media and manage themselves better than Britney does I guess.

reminds me of when I saw a clip of Jessica Simpson in a mall trying to shop and she starting bitching because of all the people in the mall following her and taking pictures. she said something and I can't remember what, but it was something really mean and stupid. I lost a lot of respect for her, not that I had a ton to start with. I thought, you know these people are the reason you're able to shop and have all the nice things you have.

They chose it and need to be accountable for their choices.

I mean that paparazzi feel authorized to do whatever they want because there's a huge request from the public to know everything about celebrities, especially about their weaknesses. It's like the veil torn away by Judi Garland's face in A star is born, everyone feel the right to know, comment, laugh, feel better because someone's who's richer and privileged is suffering. It's become a global, compulsive activity to stay there to watch every second of famous people's falls, or dissect their love life ... even when this attitude causes one of the biggest idols' death (like in Princess Diana's case). And it's done without any sense of guilt, because you know, they're famous...

ok, I see.

now, I do not think that putting their life in jeopardy (although I'm sure exactly what "putting their life in jeopardy" is, is debateable) is ok or touching them is ok. just to make that clear.
