and where I got that from is the same place we all get a lot of stories. handed down. that's why I said "I believe" - there's a thread on this subject where we all discuss songs offered and/or written to/for Stevie.

After reading this thread I went to iTunes and bought the original (I've always liked the song so why not) and listened really close. There is a voice in the chorus that sounds a little Stevie like but I can't imagine Stevie doing a vocal where she only sings the line and doesn't add at least one little oooh or aaah so that you can tell it's her.

Although I seem to recall that there was also a BB King album where Stevie was listed as singing backup on "Drowning In A Sea Of Love" (how appropriate) but when I listened you could barely hear her and she actually did pretty much sing one phrase over and over and that was it. So I could be proved wrong. LOL!

I'm listening to this mp3 right now and am amazed and what a great recording this is, awesome.

Now what is this about Stevie's dance during this song?
The BB King song that Stevie sang on is called "Can't Get Enough of Your Love." I don't have the technology to post an mp3, but maybe someone else can - Here's the lyrics:

B.B. King ft. Stevie Nicks
Can't Get Enough

I've been tossing and turning all night
Staring into the darkness, afraid to turn on the light
It's got nothing to do with money
I can sing, I want you honey
And I just can't rest until I get it right

Cause when the morning breeze starts blowing
That's when you'll hear me call your name
That's when my love starts showing
It's getting serious, baby...
End of game

Cause I can't get enough of your love
I said I can't get enough of your love
I can't get enough of your love
I said I can't get enough of your love

You got me walkin' round in circles
Yeah, I'm always pacing the floor
But this life I'm living without you
I just can't take no more

Well, the morning breeze starts blowin'
I can hear you call my name
That's when my love starts showin'
It's getting serious, baby...
End of game

Cause I can't get enough of your love
I said I can't get enough of your love
I can't get enough of your love
I said I can't get enough of your love

I...can't get enough of your love...
I...can't get enough of your love...

When the morning breeze starts blowing
I can hear it call your name
That's when my love starts showing
It's getting serious, baby...
End of game

Cause I can't get enough of your love
I said I can't get enough of your love
I can't get enough of your love
I said I can't get enough of your love

I can't get enough of your love...
I said I...can't get enough of your love...

I wasnt getting hostile, I just didnt understand the reasoning...and after reading the thread I find it interesting being a Blondie fan... I looked it up on wikipedia quick and that says that she was approached to write it with him for the movie soundtrack and she refused, and then went to Debbie to write it with him. fun fact!

I bet "The Studio" wanted Stevie at the time. It was for a Movie after all.
Melissa Manchester could not record her own song.."Whenever I call you, Friend" at the time. They said she was not a big enough name to do a duet with Kenny Loggins at the time..so there you go!

She passed on it because she had already had a #1 hit with Dreams in the title.

yeah, I guess I had just "forgotten" it was actually written for Stevie. I also remember that Stevie thought the imagery in the song was too expected of her...

I don't understand why she passed on it really. She reuses phrases in her songs all the time. She made some remarkably bad career moves during that time, IMO. And who wouldn't want Bernie Taupin to write a song for them? Damn Klonopin.

When Giorgio Moroder approached Stevie about collaborating, the demo he presented her with was called "Man Machine." For one reason or another (she was probably spooked by that title!), she passed.

He then took it to Debbie Harry, and once she wrote the lyrics, it became "Call Me."

So, "Call Me" wasn't really offered to Stevie... but the demo that inspired it, was.

Actually, she passed on "These Dreams" during the latter-part of the Cocaine Years, while she was recording 'Rock A Little.'

Ann & Nancy have said that Stevie passed on it because it was too similar to the songs that Stevie herself writes. The logic being, "why record someone else's song when it sounds just like something I can write myself?"

Ann & Nance were quite happy to take the song, though, because it was very different from what they write, and allowed them a chance to show another side of themselves.
