According to Mick's book, they began their 1976 tour at the San Diego Sports Arena 8/25/76. He mentions that they opened the show with "our current single, Over My Head, "and then followed it with Station Man.
That's a very unusual, unprecedented opener. Is this show in circulation? Can anyone confirm it? Very curious.

I think that's one of the more blatant errors in the book.
1) I think he got "Over My Head" & "Say You Love Me" mixed up. SYLM was the current single at the time. 2) As I recall, they really didn't "tour" per se in late 1976...they just did a handful of shows since they were still in the studio finishing up Rumours at the time. The Rumours tour kicked off in Feb '77.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, you're probably right about Mick's error (and bad memory).Getting Christine's two songs mixed up is completely plausible. Since fans are more atuned to the band's history, he should have had some fans proof-read the book before it was printed. I'm really amazed sometimes about how out of touch they (the band members) are with themselves! They are certainly adept at rewriting history.

I think they opened a few 88 dates with "Say You Love Me" as well...

Once they replaced "Get Like You Used To Be" with "Say You Love Me" (sometime in mid-76), it stayed as the opening number for many years. (I think they experimented with "Monday Morning" as the opener for a bit during the Tusk tour, with SYLM 2nd, but they flip-flopped them back after a time)

I thought I read somewhere that they opened with MM on the Rumors tour or the mini tour btw FMFM and Rumors. Then again, I may just be insane
![]() On edit - the FM Live recording sure sounds like the pre-Tusk era. |

Hmmm...you could be right. There are about four songs from the Rumours era on the album. "Don't Let Me Down Again" and "Dreams" for example. Also, that whole intro part, "Ladies and Gentlemen..." appears to me like it was recorded in a studio. Just one of the many things they did to the live tracks in the studio, after the fact. A "Live" album...not truely.

"Don't Stop", "Dreams" & "Rhiannon" from 1977. "Don't Let Me Down Again" was from 1975. Wherever David O. is these days (obviously taking a moritorium from here), he'd know.

It was the opener for the San Francisco shows. I thought it was opener for entire TITN tour?

I like very much the Monday Morning opening in the LIVE album. And its Over my Head live version is also great, with a very cool intro that rocks. It is far better than the Dance performance.

And, I think they did too, in retrospect, since they dropped it for "Oh Daddy" when it came time to do the tour.
