Okay, cause you know Carrie said that bread used for toast is baked and then you first said that bread is unbaked and left everybody confused and then you said that you can bake bread and then rebake the already baked bread and then you have toast.

Groan. You win.

Actually, I responded to DrummerDeanna's comment on page 1 - "I was just about to say the title of this thread is misleading

Toast is also not baked "

So, it really is not about the bread - see

This whole mess got started because someone tried to include a secondary bread cooking in with the actual process of making bread (baking). Which is dumb, because most of the breads mentioned can be toasted anyways, I don't know why toast was singled out. Because as we all know now, toast is baked before it is toasted.

And yes, that is the most ridiculous conversation.

Jason!! You just said it yourself, toast is made out of BAKED bread...you EVEN said "you can make toast by reBAKING the baked bread". So, it IS about the bread, because you can't have toast without bread.

Please keep up, will ya?

Exactly, but, you can rebake the already once baked bread to make toast. the use of a toaster, which I think is causing the confusion, is not required - though it may be more convenient for some non-purist.

non-purist??? my god.

the ingredient used to make toast is baked bread. therefore, toast is a baked good, it has just gone through one more cooking step.

besides, you could say that toasting is baking. especially if you consider parbaked bagels, which are fully baked once they are toasted.

Who makes toast by baking it!?! Just sayin'

And ok - bread IS baked...but I'm sorry Toast is not a "baked good" No way.

When I see little old ladies selling toast at a bake sale, maybe I'll change my mind.

That is what I said. I agreed that toast was a baked item, though it can be made in a toaster, which is not really an oven per se, though they operate on the same princ.

Hooker
Yes, I make my toast in the oven, I don't have a toaster. What is confusing about that? But of course, as you know, the first statement (not by you) was that toast isn't a baked good, which is just wrong. Which you know already.
Okay. I can't tell how this thread got confusing, but it's all very clear to me. Toast is as much a baked good as most on the list, because it was baked first. Just like english muffins and bagels (?) and bisquits are all baked first, then often toasted. Okay, not so much bisquits, but still. You can't count the secondary preparation as a description of the original bread good. Which is baked.

Yes, i am a hooker. Note my lavish lifestyle.

Wait...actually I think YOU were the one...had you let my toast comment slide, I think we'd all be ignoring it

I realize bread is baked....and by definition that means it's a "baked good" but I still don't put bread in the same category as say, muffins, cinnamon rolls and the like.
