Hee! I cracked up when Stevie Wonder said, "age of 17" in his acceptance speech.

What's up with the ladies and all the straight-across-the-girls tube top dresses? It makes them have linebacker shoulders. Especially Queen Latifah. That stylist should be shot.

I think that was Big and Rich and Cowboy Troy. Ok, that's really scary that I know that.

I'm not sure... But I think song is a songwriters award for writing...

edit:
The Song of the Year is one of the two most prestigious awards in the Grammies, if not in all of the American music industry. It has been awarded since 1959 to the composer (not the performer) of the song in question.

Record of the Year, goes to the artist and production team of a single song, Song of the Year goes to the writer of the song.

What's so funny is it wasn't even a comment on the war -- I mean how do you get that from this:

Song of the Year is meant to acknowledge the songwriter. Must be a song written in the most recent award timeframe.

Record of the Year is for best recording, goes to the performer. Theoretically could go to a cover song.

Technically I suppose there isn't much of a difference. I think it's just a way to make sure songwriters get recognized since performers steal all the spotlight. Either that or the songwriters union had dirt on whoever instituted the SOTY award in the first place.
