Other than those (plus "We Will Rock You" at the beginning), it was all 1983 "Purple Rain" tunes, catinthedark...

"Let's Go Crazy"
"Baby I'm a Star"
& of course "Purple Rain"

The stage was awesome tho. And the marching band with the glowing costumes was fun too.

Wow, the comments left on YouTube are pretty brutal. I hate to admit it, but I kinda have to agree... this is not my favorite Stevie TV performance.

(i'm NOT being snarky at all here. i just truly find it odd). i'm curious why she was invited on - as opposed to a christina, or jessica, or someone more to the appeal of the superbowl-type crowd...? i love that she was on - but it's not like she's on promoting new music. you know?
yeah. well, what else would she sing? i'm not trying to be snarky either -- cause lord knows tired and old are the songs she sings. but seriously? other than standard fleetwood mac songs, this is the one song that defined her as a solo artist to the masses.

i'm sure if we were to sit down and take a look at who represents the artists that performed tonight, there'd be a connection -- either in record label or publicity.

i thought it was fairly lackluster -- she was smiling but going through the motions. sharon sounded good though!

I was disappointed in the vocal performance. Maybe she was just all tense from nerves. Or just trying to push it a little past her limitations. Then again, I thought the band and the "girls" sounded, "not so good" too. It all sounded kind of muffled and flat to me. So maybe it's just the way it came across on TV. Nothing like her Today Show performances or how she sounded on her solo tour and the Petty gigs. On a positive note, I thought she looked GREAT! This woman should be a role model on how to stay sexy and young for females in their fifties and pushing sixty!! Love the wildness in her hair. I mean, after all she is a ROCK STAR!!

I thought Stevie did a very good job, given the audience and how nervous I'm sure she was. I mean, she's nervous playing for her diehards so I could only imagine how she was with this crowd and the nationally televised thing.

But we can't be surprised to read negative reviews of her performance. She played for the whole country today. Many of these people haven't thought about her for 20 years or so, many others have never heard of her. It's just the way it is.

I'd almost completely blame it on the audio feed - not so much the performance. Maybe the high humidity has an effect on a voice

I think Stand Back was the best choice. she had small timeframe to perform and no matter how "tired and old" Stand Back may be to some, it always manages to get any crowd on it's feet and is a great, feel-good song, plus Stevie has said it's her favorite song to perform onstage.

and as for the artists performing being connected, that's not a new thing...it happens all the time. it's not like they just threw Stevie in for the hell of it or it was a favor to anyone.

she had great energy. hair a touch too long, but i'm not going to quibble. like the wilder look. very hot. once she got past the opening nerves, she sounded great. i must say, i missed the little "WOW-ELL, well you could be standin in... stand back! WOW-ELL, well you could be standin in.. stand back!" from the summer tour (y'all know what i mean, eh? i don't know how to write it out). but overall, great. struck the right tone.

I agree with you on every count. For 60...it was great!
