I read the Lindsey board most, but I do still have to wade through a bunch of crap to get to what I'm looking for.

Didn't it turn out that rose.gypsy was Bill Gamelson?

I lurked forever, starting around Enchanted, then tried to sign up around TISL. After no response for a couple of months to my signup request I gave up. I was finally successful just after SYW - I think because I wanted to hear the "Say You Will" radio mixes or something - but it still took a while, I remember.

Anyway - love the board, love the posters. We're on an upswing now, which is always nice. But we all know what that means...

I lurked all the way through the SYW and the GD tour, then two days before Stevie's dad passed away I finally joined. What a nice introduction. I didn't like this place at first...too many weird people.

I only got my first home computer in 2002 and the first Mac board I joined was Neil's Go Your Own Way forum. It's not very active now but back then there were quite a few regular posters. The Ledge was often mentioned there but I found it a bit daunting here, I think I was also a member of Nancy's board and Burnish way before here, so I lurked to find out news but I didn't join for a year and even then people were really cold and unwelcoming when I started posting. I think Gaius was the probably the first person I really talked to on here.

It's funny even though I've only been around The Ledge for four years the amount of people who come and go. I guess for a lot of people their fandom dies down (Dissention is actually a good case in point since when he first joined he was a massive Stevie fan and by the time he left I don't think he cared about the Mac at all), but I still really love Fleetwood Mac, which is why I keep coming back.

For grins, I just went to Tracy's old board www.burnish.net -- though she kept the site for a few years after stopping the posting, I am sad to say it appears to be finally gone. The end of an era really. Remember Scotticus? what a hoot.

Wow, that is really sad that Burnish is gone, it was such a great site! And Tracy was always the first to post video clips and songs.
Sad that The Stevie Nicks Underground is gone too. So many great sites that have just vanished over the years.

I joined the Ledge in March, 2005. I came because I couldn't stand the Mick Fleetwood discussion board and wanted to come somewhere I could state an opinion (respectfully) and not be trashed.

My experience has been a very good one. I was welcomed by many upon my first post. For a few months I felt like very few people wanted to respond to my posts, but I've come to realize that it takes some time to establish relationships.

I've posted on a zillion discussion boards on a variety of issues and this is the best one by far.

I miss David and Dissention.

Ah, nostalgia!

I joined when TISL came out. Stevie was touring and I wanted to know more information. Before that, I was on a S&L listserv, and then I switched to a fanfic listserv. I was quite prolific back in the day.

I used to post several times daily on this and of course on my own board. However, when my board was shut down by Marty for security reasons and I couldn't figure out how to get it back on line, it was pretty discouraging. Then, as I started stressing more and more and more about my dissertation, I found it harder to enjoy posting, and eventually the posts dwindled down to the rare and occasional.

I had so much fun. I'd sit down at my computer and one of the first things I'd do was click on the Ledge. The Stevie-Lindsey debates were so prevalent then that I put it in my sig. I, after all did have the ethos of having a site for both. I remember the Survivor I ran with rezamatic - I really cracked the whip on that one!

It's not all rose-colored memories. I remember the fights. I remember one time spending over an hour writing a response to a political thread, knowing that I would get mercilessly tag-teamed by dissention and gldstwmn, with The Tower occasionally joining in and of course ever-diplomatic Jason. I remember the feuds. I remember the time I was threatened with a ban when I complained about threads being locked or deleted. I look back on it now and realize - hey, it was part of the fun!

I've met so many Ledgies, some of which I'm still close to off-board. I do remember the long nights in BN chat with Cathy, Curtis, Brit, Lux - even Gaius popped in sometimes. Some nights, when something dramatic would go down, the chat would be packed! There was a time when Johnny Stew and I talked on AIM amost every night for hours, too. Things have changed, but the memory remains.

I could go on and on about those days - I was here a LOT.

I'm still stressing, but when I see threads like this, it does make me want to post more, and update BN.net, and all those things that would make it like it used to be. And then I remember that I have to turn in a chapter in a few days and all my good intentions go to pot. Maybe some day I'll become a regular again... after I can find joy in the little things once more. Of course by then most people will have forgotten who the hell I am! Do you all pity me now? Don't worry, I'm done whining!

I'll say one thing. I've been on non-FM message boards and the drama here is a heck of a lot more fun!

I joined after the first SYW concert I saw in LA. I came upon stevie's site first and, while in nicksfix chat, I believe someone provided a link to fleetwoodmac.net there...checking out areas of the site I came upon the message board...I joined right away and did not hesistate to jump-in. I believe my first convo was with DIS regarding coldplay or someother band... It has been interesting to watch the climate..."when it is good it is really good." - Chris

I got on The Ledge in earnest a few years back after the big blow up on Mick's board. There was an old school fan spirit here with a touch of rebel to it that I really liked. We had some fun.
