That's correct, lbfan and Macman, he did play a private show in Chicago and I was there (along with Bree, who was my guest). He was interviewed by Lin Brehmer of WXRT (Chicago's Finest Rock) and played about five songs, all acoustic, him by himself. The five songs were "Never Going Back Again," "Big Love," "Down on Rodeo," "Go Insane (complete w/ the poem thing he always does to precede it)", and "Not too Late."

No "All My Sorrows" to be found, . It was a great show though and I felt very fortunate to have been there!

You know, I don't think he's gearing this show toward fans who've seen it multiple times (and I absolutely include myself in that group). And, keeping that in mind, I think he's not doing the same old, same old. Hell, a few months ago we were all applauding him for going out on a limb and doing requests at all and now, after only really a few months or touring, we need him to shake things up again? I just think it's a trifle unrealistic and unfair. As a fun fantasy thing, yes. It's fun to imagine stuff he might sing but the reality is a whole other story.

Jeez. He's got an album to plug and I think he's smart enough to know what to play for folks who will only see him once and are expecting certain "standards."

I'd love to hear him do a few songs live that I haven't heard before but...I'm not about to accuse him of lack of guts or creativity if he doesn't.

Wow - couldn't have said it better! An artist isn't playing to the people who choose to see them multiple times - especially if they have new material to promote!

Unless, it's the Grateful Dead.

Funny - that was one show I was dragged to when I was 16 - and hated....
Yeah, you can add Dave Matthews Band and Phish too. Gee, what's the common thread there - drug usage - lots of it!!!!
I've never enjoyed the "jam" shows.

I don't think that I can name even one GD song anyway. DMB, I could never see the big attraction with them but I am sure that people feel that way about The Mac. As for Phish, I do like the ice cream flavor.

Whoa...for real??? I was outside at Mt Clemens too and didn't hear that at all... He did indeed play a private show in Chicago the following day, adn I was lucky enough to be at it (!!!!!!!!!!!!!)...nope, no All My Sorrows. Down On Rodeo was the only change-up.

As for what I'd like to hear Lindsey do? I've already voiced my opinion on this to Brett, who agreed with me whole-heartedly LOL... TURN IT ON!!! He won't do it, but meh...I don't care...keep the setlist the same, change it, whatever...just keep touring, Linds. Truthfully, I get the feeling he's really just doing whatever pleases him, he's waited a long time to do this and personally? I think he has every right to do whatever he wants to do. I could never get bored of the setlist, to be honest, because to me, it's just an honor he's doing any of this at all. (However, that does not mean that I wouldn't fall over and die--quite happily--if Turn It On were played. )

I "get" what you mean - but I'm not sure that Dead fans would have stopped showing up even if the set lists weren't so diverse - that was what I meant!

Diehard fans would always like to see things mixed up more - we just don't always make up the majority of the audience........

Well, you guys may hear "all my sorrows" in rehearsals b/c it has a lotta vocals and might be a great soundcheck tune? Just a thought.

And in order to keep this thread controversial, I personally don't believe that OOTC or GI have aged as well as LAO, a point I'm sure even Lindsey would disagree with. But the production on GI seems to be over-the-top in "studio trickery" of the time, and a wee bit of the same could be said of OOTC. But all of those songs performed in today's format (read, live) would be an improvement IMO.

That being said, I'd love to hear a Shadow of the West or I'll Tell You Now.

And I'm loving the current setlist! (but i've never seen him, which will be remedied 1.25.07!)

I am with you 100% on the aging of L&O point, esp. vs. GI. OOTC doesn't have a feeling of dated production values to my ear, though. I guess because I don't compare it to other albums of that time. Yes, OOTC songs would be brilliant live with his sound today, I think.

Some days, I live for Shadow of the West & I'll Tell You Now. No joke. Two of my all-time favorites. The parts... the vocals.. they're like super smooth butter that I just want to drown in. (Although, on second thought, I wouldn't particularly like to drown in butter. But you get what I mean.)

I guess I wasn't so controversial, eh Sarah?

But I do know what you mean, and glad we're fellow L&O fans.

Controversy? In the Fleetwood Mac internet community? This is the first I've ever heard of it.
