Besides Angela's Ashes and 'Tis...YOU MUST READ Teacher Man! You don't have to be a teacher like me to appreciate it of course, but he obviously would be anybody's DREAM teacher! Can you imagine??

His brother ran for office in their home state, and I love their collective books together. I'm sending them some copies to sign now. Very famous family...but unfortunately...easily forgotten in this day and age.

Speaking of lewd and crude...if you like books that are risque, you must try Carrie Fisher's Surrender the Pink! It was overlooked for her first novel Postcards from the Edge. Her last two were well written too.

Teacher Man was the first McCourt book I read! Then Angela's Ashes (I saw the movie before I read the book, actually)... I haven't read 'Tis. I could've sworn we had it, but we probably lent it to someone. I keep meaning to get it out of the library.

Wow! Good on ya...your in the minority! I can send my copy after my friends are done with it. We have a lil' book club thing where we beg/borrow/trade and chat. I probably should set up an electronic board!

No, he's not. I wouldn't expect to continue a back and forth email conversation. You are very lucky to have the gift of two emails from one of your heroes. Treasure them.

Sorry, but no. Just be glad he replied twice. That's more than what most authors would do. You're lucky you didn't get a form reply back.

Nothing wrong with wanting to be pen pals. I have several authors that are email buddies, but remember these guys are busy. Sometimes it will be a week or so before I hear back from one of my authors, especially if they are on tour.
My advice is, not to push it though. If it happens, it happens. Otherwise you risk becoming an internet stalker.
