Default Say You Will Alternates

I was invited to the Seven Wonders Myspace page and on it was a Thrown Down alternate which was really great. I was wondering if there are any more Say You Will alternates (not demos) such as this. I mean it sounds like it could have come straight off the album. Thanks, Josh.

As far as I know, there are no other alternates of this nature. There are single mixes and outtakes however, but nothing too different

I have the other Thrown Down, too. AFAIK, it's the only "other" mix of any of the SYW songs.

There's also the solo version of Peacekeeper that Lindsey released Spring 2001.

The other Thrown Down was actually determined to be an outtake from the Trouble In Shangri La sessions.
To date we have only seen in circulation alternate mixes that were created by the fans.
Lindsey's Gifts Of Screws mixes of the Say You Will songs are basically the same with some overdubs and very minor tweaking to these ears.
I would kill to hear Stevie's demo submissions of these songs to the band as, IMO the only song that seemed to get rightful treatment on Say You Will was Destiny Rules.

Wink

the Chris Lord Alge remix of "Say You Will" is quite a bit different. Stevie's vocal is a different take, and the main guitar is more "electric"

Yeah the one im talking about is 4:43. Lindsey's on it so i assume its more around the Say You Will time. I also have two thrown down TISL demos. Also i do love Lindseys Peacekeeper, prbly more than the actual one! Thanks guys, Josh C

I don't think the vocal is different. And the guitar is just a bit more forward in certain parts of the mix.
I should clarify that yes, there were several alternate mixes from Say You Will shipped to radio stations. But I was really addressing the fact that there are no demos or outtakes from the sessions at the Bellagio house and specifically no circulating demos of the Phoenix four songs that were played in the documentary. There are some tracks from Lindsey at the Village Recorder which later wound up on Say You Will. And then of course there is the still unreleased stuff from GOS which I hope he's going to release on this next electric album.

Here is the "cold remix" version of Say You Will produced by Chris Lord Alge. Is this the one you're talking about?

Actually, now that I think about it, the DVD A version of Say You Will did have some different... tweaks to the songs. I think it's most evident on Running Through The Garden. So I'm off to find that. Here's the Thrown Down I think you were originally talking about:

Yes, the chorus of TD was a little different. I think we noticed that in some city.

I disagree - I think "Illume" was exactly how it should have been, and demonstrated how FM should have sounded in the 21st century

And - like in TD and SYW - there shoulf have been a last verse instead of the repeating of the chorus. And - that gimmicky voice thing - ugh!

Yeah the helium voice...was that really necessary? John shines on this song though. It's amazing how he makes the song so many times. He does it on a lot of Stevie's songs.

I think that is because he is way talented and she tend to write in such a stark manner that he has more freedom to create his part - but in songs like Dreams (WHERE HE RULES THE SONG IMO) he essentially follows her chords in the stark demo.

Ever since I heard this version I've liked it more than the one that turned up on the album (though I still think it kicks serious ass), but the only thing that stops me listening to it more is that it's not as good quality . I just wish there was a lossless version out there. Anyone know if there is?

Actually, on more detailed listening, I don't think it's exactly the same as the one I have (5 seconds shorter and maybe slight differences here and there). The one I heard was the "single mix" and I don't remember where I got it, but I think it was buckinghamnicks.net.
