to say the least.
where shall I start? woke up this morning, fine enough. Then I got to work. Our first patient was in a car accident on saturday and had displaced his bottom front for teeth. We had never seen him before so had NO idea what we were about to get ourselves into. So he shows up-polo shirt on inside out. The wreck occurred because his "girlfriend" was drinking and driving. She was in court today dealing with that. And the fact she was in her current "husband's" car. Whoops. Moving on. He insists that he has a "high tolerance" for pain med and needs oxycontin or something similar. He had been to the ER twice since the wreck. I happen to walk in while our other (pregnant) assistant goes to the restroom. I had to babysit him so his ass wouldn't jump out the damn window or something He realizes I am fresh meat, so he's asking me if we have samples of pain med. um. no. Then wants me to go get the doctor because he has another..."question". His question? He wants to know if we can give him Dilaudid. I told him we don't prescribe that kind of pain med. "well...uh....uh...see...my back...it really hurts and I need it for that" I wasn't even in the mood for that ****. I have absolutely NO tolerance for this crap because my dad has a problem with prescription pain meds. (and don't think I'm being a cold-hearted bitch-it gets better) so I inform him that "no. we are a dental office here to take care of your dental needs. If you have back problems you need to see a physician or chiropractor" dude FUKCING freaks out and hands start flying everywhere...hit me..(I guess accidentally...I'll assume that even though we still called the police). All this happened AFTER he took our overhead light and thought he was in the movie star wars and he was driving off to the final frontier. Or was that start trek? who can keep up? If I could even BEGIN to make this **** up...I would be a selling books.SO THEN. I told a story a long time ago about my patient with alzheimer's. A while back he took a stroll out in the back yard, but no one knew where he was and his wife and I were running up and down the street looking for him. Well, he came in today because his front crown came out. I asked him if he had it and he told me he did. He whipped out his billfold and gave me a $20 It was so sad. I didn't want to embarrass him, so I told him he could hang on to that for now and we would get it later. So to end on a GOOD note. I run into him (alzheimer's guy) and his wife ALL the time at pizza hut. She asked if after his procedure he would need to stay away from anything. I told her "no...I won't deny you pizza hut!!" they invited me, but I couldn't go for another 2 hours. They came back about an hour later with a box full of pizza!! I gave her a big hug and kinda started crying it was so sweet!!! I nice ending to the morning I had!!! |

Actually the patient that has alzheimer's got to me more. nah...I wouldn't leave because of that. I've had my fingers bit, stabbed my fingers with instruments, had blood fly in my eye. This is nothing... |

ha ha..you bitch. how are those neighbors working out for ya?? ![]() Quote:
I know. We usually have about 1 or two a week. Sometimes more. Usually they are less obvious than this guy. I guess becuase they are getting them to sell them. I think it's also usually the case that the people that sell them don't take them. So they can keep their cool a little bit easier that someone who is desperate. I can have compassion, but that flew out the window pretty quick. Quote:

and so it gets better. My best friend (the one in all my pics) who is pregnant called and told me she was in labor. she lives in nashville (2 hours away) so i'm already half-way loaded up in the car and she tells me she's kidding. I thought "i" went into labor but she is 3 cm dilated and 70% effaced so it's any day now *squeal* ![]() |
