And I'm not even a Republican (very liberal Dem) but how can you justify giving more air time to James Brown than you do a former president of the United States?
I did think about calling in last night when CNN was soliciting what memories we had of James Brown. I wanted to say, "That God Awful mug shot of him after he got drunk, got high, and was beating the **** out of his woman and got arrested for it." Somehow though, I didn't think my memory would have made it on air!

You have a fantastic point about our country's attention and let me add...ATTENTION SPAN! I really thought that after Princess Diana paid the ultimate price with her life for our curiosity (yes, the photographers and the bodyguard/driver may have been the true guilty party!) and we keep making those same mistakes...

I know I am obsessed with Stevie and I consider her American royalty (much like the Kennedy's in my heart and mind), and have been since I was a kid...and I was totally obsessed with Princess Diana before her death. I bought every magazine I could get my hands on as a teen and even had her haircut (or attempted!) and when she died I felt soooo guilty. So much so, I
visited her grave the next summer to pay my respects and will again at the 10 year mark next summer.

Point is...we are way too engulfed with celebrities personal lives. I should only be concerned with their professional life that they present to me...THAT THEY CHOOSE TO LET ME IN ON! Not what the media/paparazzi makes us privy to! But that is how I feel...

James say "I don't feel so good!"

Why is he not holding/wearing a number at the station??

So you're saying you wish you would have gone to Mr. Brown's funeral so you could see Stevie? Classy!

Regardless of his character, I think that James Brown was a phenomenally talented musician, and he will be greatly missed by the entire music community. Stevie must have felt the same way to have attended his funeral.

Just so long as she's not at Sadaam's funeral...

As I stated earlier, I admit that I have an unhealthy fascination with celebrities such as Stevie and Princess Di...people who I idolize and if I went it would only have been to see her.

I guess your definition of "classy" is different than mine...I find the use of the term "douchebag" and the F-word in every post unclassy and undignified (and unfortunately you don't!). But I would have never told you that...until now.

I guess it's kind of like Donald Trump being the "moral compass" and telling Miss USA what she should do to make it right...so, your the authority on high class? That is hilarious...

Thanks for giving me my first laugh of the New Year!

I got to thinking about this the other day. Imagine if Stevie and FM were just coming to fame right now, in our current tabloid celebrity era. Can you imagine what they would be printing about Stevie and Lindsey and the demise of their relationship? Or of John's and Christine's? Or Mick and Jenny's? Or the drug use? Alcohol abuse? My God the paparazzi would have had a field day and then some! Particularly since Christine and Stevie were then and still are such great looking women? Oh my God. They would have been on the cover of every single tabloid every single week! I bet they're glad they got famous when they did and not know!

And we still don't know for sure that Stevie DID attend his funeral. I've seen no independent confirmation of her or Oprah Winfrey or anyone other than the names I saw in the articles. That's not to say they weren't, but I'd like to know for sure.

I'm not going to say that I think you have no class, since I don't know you. However, I do it it's a bit odd that someone would consider attending someone else's funeral in order to catch a glimpse of another person they're obssessed with. But you have admitted yourself that it's weird, so

First of all, that little "classy" remark was very tongue-in-cheek. But, I didn't use an emoticon, which may have gotten my point across better. I forgot that people do not understand that over here.

I love all words, good and bad. I guess you don't. It's cool, we're all different. I know that "foul" language is tacky, and you know what? I don't care! How 'bout that!

I guess I don't think it's cool to attend a person's funeral just to get a glimpse of the ~magickal~ one. I think it's incredibly tacky.

I don't think I'm the authority on high class, however, I do know the proper useage of "you're" and "your."

No problem, sweetie. I hope you gain a better understanding of the concept of sarcasm in 2007.

I'm very for those of you who were offended by our exchange, but everytime I ever express my feelings on this board...someone always comes along and thinks it's there (Ooops! let me correct before the grammar police come 'round! ) their job to tell me something prophetic. It is usually in the most rude manner possible to attract attention/accolades. I was simply trying to draw attention to an issue...

Thanks for not condemning me... Like I said before, I (as well as others here I am sure...since that is why we come here) have an unhealthy fascination with her. That is not to say that everyone here has an unhealthy one...mind you! That is actually one of my resolutions this year...some people are addicted to drugs and alcohol, but I have a Stevie issue. I even resolved that I may not even go back to Princess Diana's grave this summer. I think if everyone considers how much time, energy and money they spend on their obsession or fascination with a celebrity...it will surprise them.

I won't continue to "ping-pong" insults back and forth with anyone...especially over grammar. I wrote that last post at 4-5am EST and I was a bit tired. When someone practices what they preach, they may judge me...lest they be judged.

Ok, then, I'm mistaken... I guess she was just photoshopped into the live CNN TV camera shot.

Chili, besides showing her face, did they actually mention her name during the broadcast also?
