He was a great talent and musically a hero and pioneer for many. So celebrate and honor that.
But all week I've been hearing about how he is a role model and a mentor and I'm sorry but that is pure crap. He was a wife beater, being charged and admitting to abuse at the age of 70!! At that age he should have learned and known better. He also said very recently that women need to know their limitations and justified his feelings about women based on the Bible.
I know he had a hard life but none of that excuses violence, especially towards women. Almost every news account talks about this part of him as his "troubled" time. BS. No, not troubled: violent, misogynist, and not fitting for a role model and mentor.
Why do people feel the need to make someone into an angel just because they die?
He was a groundbreaking entertainer and musician and I honor him for that.

I feel the same way. What also pisses me off is that this death is getting more attention than our former
president Gerald Ford!
